Yet they act like they own the players. They should let the poor kids play high school basketball.

And no one owns anyone but the girls Academy is paying for the majority of the program so the players have less say. The GDA players are getting about as much money paid for as some Thorns senior team players make in salary. That's an amazing deal.
The "Salem player" isn't good enough to play pro. Likely won't even play college. Just isn't good enough. Couldn't even get off the pine in her one year in ECNL.

Thorns never said they are paying for travel. Just helping out with some of the cost. Big difference.

Point being is that it costs a lot more than 50k per team to run a 10 month program. There are many more costs associated with running the program. Not just travel.

                    That is too bad.

FC mom is still sore about the 2001 ECNL team finishing fourth place in OYSA premier?

                        That’s a lot of cash.

They have had 2 travel weekends so far.

They will be going to Florida for 5 days.

In the Spring they will have 4 travel weekends.

How much do you think it cost to travel? The Florida trip alone will be at least $1K per kid. On a team of 16 + coach, your cost will be $17K.

They train 3-4 times per week for 10 months. Are you thinking the coaches are coaching for free?

$2000 is a bargain you cheap bastard. You can always pay $350 if you want to just play Select soccer thru THUSC. The competitive program at THUSC is $1500 plus travel, etc...
FC Portland ECNL is $2300 plus travel. Westside Timbers is $1550 plus travel (if any trips)

Do they only take 16 players to Florida? What about the other 8 or 9? Will the 8 or 9 that don't travel to Florida also maybe not travel the other weekends?

That’s per team? Wow. That’s a lot of dough.
