Next year they will only have the 13's and 14's, and the year after that, they will only have the 14's. If MLS clubs pull out, what is the reason for a non-MLS club with 1 age group in DA going to do?

Not sure they will eliminate 13's the following year. Some U12 only clubs were granted U13 & U14 for next year. Why would they do that if they are just going to pull the U13 program the next year?

Because that allows u12s who played DA to stay within the program for an additional year. Next year's u12s won't have been in DA, so they'll lose nothing when it's dropped at u13.

These issues are a little bit more acute here in Oregon, as Washington DA has collapsed. It's no longer hypothetical that DA is going away in the NW, and the sooner clubs and Timbers chart a path that doesn't involve DA below u15 the better. .

I don't think first part is quite right - they just added new clubs at 13/14 level. So its more than just making u13 available next year to clubs with u12; in some parts of the country they are expanding.

Clubs leaving DA is, I'm sure, mucking up DA's planning.

As far as local clubs charting a path forward sooner then later, good luck with that. Building on these national platforms has been vey positive in some respects and very unpredictable in others - something material changes every single spring. Add in that those sharing their read of the future usually have a vested interest in that future turning one way or another, hurrying decisions isn't helpful.

Would agree that clubs working together is crucial though.

unless they're going to have a round 2, it looks like this it for next year. Anything new would have to announced quickly as tryout season is fast approaching.
