We really won't know until the class of 2020 what kinds of players FC Portland and Crossfire United's "development" model turns out. I find it telling that very few if any young girls that come through their in-house programs actually get on the ECNL teams. If you look at Crossfire United's PPG record, the teams actually get WORSE over time.

Easy there, you are shining the ugly truth about ECNL. Kool-aid drinkers that have been spending $8k a year in here in 3-2-1...

I don't think any clubs can tout "home developed players." And I think it's normal for talented kids to seek out more successful teams and more talented teammates.

There wont be too many girls from the Eastside teams playing for Reign. That is a 2 hour commute in Rush Hour.
who play for the SU ECNL, so GDA is a blessing of having two days on the eastside.
If your dd was on a competitve team, you would know two hours of commuting a day is
nothing for a top player on a top team.
Thorns? I am pretty sure that SU/EFC and Crossfire Wa will allow their DPs to play against you jokers during GDA. Might be just GD by 7 or 8. Maybe.

If your kid gets on the radar than a showcase is a place for a coach to one-stop watch them and whoever else is on their list. But you can get this at any top showcase or tournament. Doesn't have to be ECNL. You have to chose your school and then do the legwork. Most ECNL coaches don't tell you that. They regurgitate the "pathway to college" rhetoric and lead some of these families to believe that the ECNL league will provide all. Not true.
The reason ECNL is the pathway is it attracts the top players and the speed of play can't be duplicated elsewhere. The speed of play in ECNL is the pathway to college. Go to Surf and look at the top bracket and see the college coaches lined up to watch the players with speed. I may be wrong but in all our years going to Surf and playing in the top bracket I never saw: Burlingame, California Storm, PSV,...

Same thing will happen at California Storm, PSV, etc. They will recruit and delusional players seeking a pathway to college will now all go to GDA, just like they used to for ECNL.

That said, NorCal has a much bigger & better player pool so both Ecnl & Gda can survive and both can do better than Oregon. The only thing we have more of in Oregon is Kool Aid.
