    Boys DA, RTC and ODP

What have people heard from their clubs about a players involvement in RTC or ODP if they are in a DA.

From 2 different DOCs - ODP as an elite path needs to die in this market. All it adds is noise.

ODP is virtually dead anyway, certainly on life support. Now with GDA starting on the girls side I don't see how ODP survives.

Oh and you can't do ODP if you're in DA

Not True Timbers have special arrangement with the Federation. About ~ half the Boys 04 ODP pool are DA players. Better players want more touches and do RTC / ODP and Rose City Prep etc.,

Here is what I tell families:

If your child is doing well in school, can keep up with the additional soccer commitment, and your family can afford it, then go for it.

ODP has been 'dying' for about 8 to 10 years and still it catches college recruiters' attention. Try it out for year. It will show up on the player's profile.

            The best news EVER!

Any kids on a DA team CANNOT play in RTC and ODP.

            And......

If your child was in the DA this past year you are entitled to a refund by the Timbers. They knowingly charged the DA players to do RTC and ODP when US Soccer told them not to

ODP/RTC is the chance to supplement your child's soccer goals.

No matter what, give it a chance. Trust me. A lot of us who had kids in these programs will complain abuot something. At the same time, they start by playing against teams comprised of players they might have known through travel tournaments. If they are selected for Regional Camp (and sometimes beyond), they then become roommates with some of the other players, on new teams.

Meeting new players, being challenged and establishing new friendships goes a long way-especially when they end up at the same college team or on the professional field.
