No need to recruit. Top players ALWAYS move to either CU or FCP. Been that way for years, and will be that way for many years to come.

I agree to a certain point about letting the kid decide for herself. Sometimes kids make poor decisions. They make decisions on their friends and aren't open to meeting new players or teams. They don't know how to assess their value. They don't know how to make educated decisions. Again, don't make rash decisions based on syrupy BS. You are in the Honeymoon phase of a relationship. Have her meet the players, play with the players, spend time with the coach, evaluate the training. Now I know doing all of this before tryouts is next to impossible. The problem is that if this keeper is being courted by KL and he seems all fine and dandy, but you are also hearing some horrible things about him, you need to do the research and find out the truth. Does KL really want to develop you, respect you as a player, or just use you to increase rankings for the team? What if somebody better comes along in a year from now? Will he still be there to support you? The answer is obvious to me. He is opportunistic and will use and abuse, recruit players instead of developing them. If I were KL, I'd give the CU ECNL 03 girls the love and attention they deserve. If he were a good coach, he can prove that he can develop them by not replacing them with new recruits, but by investing in them as players and loving them and them proving his worth.

Sadly, this won't happen because he has no integrity.
The purpose of the ECNL program is to develop and showcase the best talent available. If your kid isn't in that category then they should be replaced by someone who is. Why waste valuable resources on lower-level talent?

This is no anomaly as there are fantastic non ECNL club teams everywhere and college coaches/scouts know this.
What ranking system are you referring too?

LOL-The paperboy could be the one to input Last Planet. I remember an ODP team dad whose son was cut from Westside, then played for FC. He signed up to input results for Laughing Planet. He initially input favorable details for the Westside team and didn't include everything for the FC team. Things changed when his son switched to FC. Funny thing though when his son quit FC and started training with the Westside U18s. Dad no longer did Last Planet but still worked several jobs to pay for college.

GotSoccer ranks by how well a team does against a higher ranked team in higher ranked tournaments-those tournaments get higher rankings when you advertise with GotSoccer.
If your A team beats a higher ranking team (which hosts a Got Soccer Gold tournament) in a Silver ranked team, then your A team's ranking isn't scored as high.

Is that why L.P. completely pulled the Oregon ecnl teams out at 03?

Oh, please. Stop the ECNL marketing hogwash. You've drunk the Kool-Aid and can no longer have a genuine discussion.

The CU ECNL 03s are equally talented to the GPS 03s. The coach at GPS has developed his team and helped them achieve the recognition they deserve. The CU ECNL 03s have struggled and need improvement. Do you really think that the issue is the players or is it the coaching?

I've seen both groups for years and agree they are equally as talented however I think Crossfire has not developed any players over the last year which is unfortunate. Had they been developed the same as GPS they may still be equal or even better. Issue is coaching in general at Crossfire.

I have been deeply involved with the LastPlanet rankings since it began in 2012 and I can assure you that no one from Westside Timbers has ever been involved.

GotSoccer is not a good ranking site as it doesn't include most matches that are played each weekend. It includes only those tournaments and leagues that pay to use the Gotsoccer software. They have about 50% coverage nationwide. Because they are missing a lot of valuable data, their rankings are very suspect and their predictive power for future matches is very low.

So why are ECNL coaches asking for girls to come over and offering incentives? Funny that you admitted that top players are not developed by those clubs. They just hire the best used car salesmen with C coaching licenses.

It's sad here but true. There is a long standing joke about waiting to jump on an ECNL team until Sophmore year because the turn over rates are high and they don't develop their players. Kids that stay on club teams that continue to get developed just easily grab ECNL spots in high school. I feel bad for any 05s actually condsidering one of these clubs for this earlier version of ECNL/money grab this upcoming year. FOOLISH!

ECNL is diluted now. Many years ago when it first started, it truly was "elite." Now they are accepting every darn club in the country to join the league and college coaches know that.

Let me tell you from our ECNL experience that, at the showcases and games, college staff and recruiters only go there for the CA, TX, and east coast players, not for the OR players. if they happen to notice an Oregon player in the match against these teams, then they make an inquiry to the coach from OR, but I will tell you that is very rare. There are really only 1 or 2 players that get noticed CONSISTENTLY on OR ECNL teams. They are the standout players and it is easy to identify them.

Also, after speaking with numerous parents and players from these out-of-state ECNL teams, I learned that several of their sophomore daughters are already committed to prestigious schools. When talking to several ECNL players in OR, I learned they only committed Junior year (rare) and Senior year (most often) and that the schools were not so prestigious (local Oregon schools like Portland State or UP). Again, if your daughter has that rare, stand out talent and looks as good or better than the out-of-state ECNL players, then ECNL may be good for you (even if the coaching is poor).

ECNL is getting to the phase that ODP got to a few years ago: no longer elite but full of 2nd tier players.

So where are the 1st tier players? I keep hearing about developing and recruiting. It all goes hand in hand.

Is it surprising that the best College Football teams recruit top tier talent. If it was all about developing, you could put Chip Kelly at Oregon State and tell him to only take in state kids. How would that work out?

                                Prediction:

50 percent will go to GDA
30 percent will stay on diluted ecnl teams
20 percent will stay on high level club teams
