Real simple - Timbers/Thorns Academy is not the place for top coaches.
On the boys' side, the best coaches are at OYSA teams (at alliance clubs and beyond). On the girls' side, they are in the ECNL and a couple of feeder clubs.
The borg doesn't pay well so the only coaches they can get are GW lackeys.

They have opened up a national search for a replacement.

Why not bring back Tina - that worked out so well for them the last time around.
If not her, swing by the bull pen - there are always ex-timbers trying to figure out what do with their life their - coach girls soccer, hey why not.

With that said Oregon's club landscape is not populated with any coaches of any notable real achievement or distinction either, but strangely they are paid quite well for producing nothing.
In the end the coaching is a wash on the club scene vs Timbers/Thorns GDA.
So the attraction for the families and kids is the cost.
Nothing or next to nothing at the DA/GDA Timbers/Thorns. or
Upwards of 10K to 12K at the neighborhood clubs.
