    The #1 Reason why ECNL

The #1 Reason why ECNL will always attract the majority of college coaches at their events is because 90% of the girls receive less than a 25% athletic scholarship. Some get as little as just books paid for. I know as a coach that if a kid is playing in the ECNL, no only are they more than likely going to be able to afford college, they probably get great grades in the classroom. Outside of the gifted few that will get noticed no matter where they play, it will ultimately come down to academics and the ability to pay for college.

The GDA will cater to the Super Elite (who will get noticed anyways) and leave the rest of the girls scratching their heads. By the time you realize what is going on, it will be too late. There will be very little showcasing of just the good to average players.

    To each their own though!!

The only chance for any league/showcase to attract coaches to a showcase is if they have the best players from the best clubs throughout the US about 20 to 40 clubs and pay for the coaches to attend. Which does work at these events. The coaches want the low hanging fruit for sure and the club parents are willing to pay for it. The sad part is the non relevant clubs at these events like Oregon's get no benefit as they would end up at the same furutre college if they played HS and a little local club state league and attended a couple of college showcase tournaments.

The devil is always in the details.

In other words, it's a cattle call. Moo.

The stars, of course, don't go to cattle calls. But if you are a replacement-level prospect, the sort of borderline utility player that are a dime a dozen, there's no reason for overworked college coaches to pound pavement and hunt down those players, when those players will come to them (or pay big money for the privilege of competing in showcase events). And hey, since ECNL operates closed showcases, they can corner the market on college access for the good-but-not-great players every team needs, but can't afford (or won't bother) to actively recruit.

If GDA caters to the "Super Elite" then how does Thornz Academy fill 4 rosters? They've never been able to attract even 1 "Super Elite" player in the past, and that's not about to change.

This reads like a desperate attempt, or even a plea, to sway people to not leave ECNL.

There are no Elites in Oregon. Maybe a handful of great players. Oregon and for the most part, the PNW need to quit trying to immulate SoCal. GDA in theory will only work in a few pockets across the country.

We have 5 players committed on our ECNL team and not one of them received below a 30% offer. The real life facts seem to dispel your logic.

Athletic scholarship. Quit adding merit money. That is available even if you don't play soccer.

                  2017 college signings

                  ECNL 40
                  Thornz 0

I'm sure families are lined up for the windowless van rides to NorCal with thornz.

Which has nothing to do with the choice of league by the club.

Twisting your outcomes to correlate to your league chose is very sophomoric and has no data to support it.

When everybody played in the USYS/OYSA league and championship series structure many more Oregon Girls got better athletic aid than 30% and actual contending D1 schools plus robust offers at middle of the road and low end D1 schools.

Those are facts that blow up you misguided brainwashed fantasy theories.

                      FC Portland & CU 40

                      Thorns OYSA Academy 0

Actually the multiplier for dollars spend is only in the 5x range more for FC & CU over the current OYSA Thorns Academy program.

It doesn't cost 40x more to play at FC & CU.

                      Nice try.

                        Agreed.

For someone to throw 30% out there without indicating the athletic/merit split is irresponsible propaganda.

ECNL coaches have made tryout dates before GDA and will be hard selling for financial commitments before GDA tryouts. Sounds like shaky ground. Last ditch money grab??

Why not fly to NorCal. That's a long drive. Especially if indeed it's a windowless van they are piling into to.
