I think the OP meant for next year, thus the try-out comments. Its not unprecedented. The Washington ECNL teams compete in RCL. You should read before you post.

And so what if the OP is high?

Let me help - the title of this thread is "ECNL 2017 Tryouts".

You are delusional. Anyone watching NEU play yesterday could readily see how far behind these girls are developmentally. The fact that they won in pks is irrelevant. In the long run the only thing these girls are learning is how to boot the ball and foul. I counted and they literally were successful in stringing a set of three whole passes together once the entire game. Enjoy the success of the win now I guess because the future looks bleak if this is what this team is hanging their hats on.

Really? Check again - CU ECNL U14 is competing in OYSA. Today should have been the first day of tryouts. U14 tryouts were just moved to May 10 so they can compete in OYSA.

Wrong. The Crossfire U14 team in the state cup is Crossfire Oregon. Crossfire Oregon does not play in ECNL. That's Crossfire United. Crossfire United is not in the state cup. Tryouts may well have been moved, but not for the reasons you state. Alternative facts.

This post is for ECNL 2017 Tryouts. Which implies CU ECNL 2017-18 team. Which is not formed yet. Which is why a link was included to the "CU ECNL tryout" page for reference. Hence the word "tryout" in the title of this post. This has nothing to do with the current Crossfire U14 team or State Cup.

CU ECNL 2017-18 U14 team was to tryout this week. Tryouts have moved to May 10 so that the CU ECNL 2017-18 U14 team can compete in OYSA. Which is great to give players more playing time. Just seems strange to have ECNL competing in local club league.

CU U14 ECNL is (really) moving to OYSA. Their tryouts were moved to next week to comply with OYSA rules. It may be a little bit of a letdown for the ECNLers but this will help with the costs a little (less travel expectations during the fall). After the end of the year, they would join the regular ECNL schedule.

How about you provide a link to the OYSA standings that show CU competing in OYSA. Otherwise, quit being stupid.

There's no standings link because it just happened today. The CU tryouts scheduled today were changed from 'real deal' to 'observational' for the U14s.

The ECNL fall schedule is very light so its maybe not a crazy idea to go into OYSA for the fall season. Actually, maybe it helps to let the clubs see if ECNL is really all its cracked up to be and that will help get rid of 50% of the posts on here one way or the other. The ECNL kids can still buy the $40 hats and $90 t shirts if they want to.

I get what you're saying. Your original post read like they were delaying tryouts because they were in the State Cup. I retract my stupid comment.

It's illegal to have an official tryout before the Timbers/Thorns DA have theirs. CU is getting in line like good sheep do. What's new.

Crossfire is giving away the kits for free this year.

No worries, these low risk moves are just incremental changes to narrow the gap between ECNL costs and GDA. The risk is that local clubs beat down the semi-pro ENCLers before they get out the gate. If that happens, advantage goes to GDA who remains above or below the fray (most likely below the fray but we'll have limited data to make the judgment).

ECNL annual costs should be reduced by about $1500-2000/year by the OYSA move - all in fall travel.

As usual why let facts get in the way of a good propaganda story. ECNL doesn't start until January. The u14 year is the one where half the team is in 8th grade and half is in 9th playing HS in the fall (because ECNL doesn't require that you give up everything fun in your life to chase a pipe dream). So the 8th grade u14 players will play in OYSA in the fall and then when the 9th graders join them they will start the ECNL season. No breaking news here.

Since it's not US Soccer DA program, US Club members (CU & FC P) can play whoever they want when they want. Makes sense it's just a local club filling up the entire year with league play. It's not breaking news, but does tear smack through the skinny fabric of the US Club soccer league (ECNL) it's just a league for club teams. It's always been that, but since the USDA is now the top tier and exclusive to the best, it just shines a light on the reality of being a club not selected for the DA.
