If we go back and look at every post you made where you called them "NWSL Portland Thorns GDA," it would give us a clear and amusing picture of what a tool you are. Personally I don't care if your kid makes "the NWSL Portland Thorns GDA," plays on an ECNL team, plays OYSA, plays high school, or plays with dolls. You are annoying.

It's better than the ignorance of calling a team an 'ECNL' team, when no such thing exists.

You either play at FC Portland or Crossfire Utd, what league they play in, is a club choice not something that morphs into a delusional manifestation of a mythical thing called an 'ECNL' team .

I have no idea about ridiculous rants per say, those rants seem to infect this entire board nearly in every thread,most without the moniker used by US Soccer. So be it.

So this thing is now 6 or 7 pages long. So how many kids are we really talking about here. There are 4 GDA teams correct?

- Lets assume 24 on a roster. I dont know what the number is or will be but for sake of argument lets start there.
- So thats 96 players

Now how on gods green earth is pulling 96 players total out of Oregon soccer going to change a damn thing for the entirety of Oregon soccer???? And that assumes you get the 96 best players which in itself is a fallacy.

There are plenty of players left to field and pay for any pay to play or free model out there. So I am not sure why people are freaking out. The money train is going to keep on rolling with GDA, ECNL, NPL, USYS and on and on. No league will die as a result of this.

So sit back relax and pick whatever you want to pick and shut up already.

You are not diluting talent. you are shuffling players. You literally have 1 additional team out of 100s added. You assume talent is consolidated. Its not. Never will be. Too may options within soccer and external to soccer for girls and boys. So in the end all you nut jobs are screaming bloody murder, preaching gospel of GDA, ECNL and whatever. All that is happening is that a single new team is being formed per age (yes 1 team) that pays $2000/yr, practices 1 more day a week, has a new set of rules, and has a different league.

Wrong. There's only so many top players to go around. It is consolidated in that most ECNL and GDA clubs overlap heavily geographically; some even at the same clubs. Not every top player will do GDA; some will remain in ECNL making both weaker than they would be if there were only one competing league. The stud out in Wyoming is SOL.

US Soccer is in charge of player eligibility, not the selected DA programs.

You can always join some other league or showcase program where they have no guidelines or standards and the only barrier to entry is the ability to pay. A couple of Oregon clubs are stuck in those choices. It happens.

It's just incredible there is a brand new program willing to cover the kids travel costs with the NWSL Portland Thorns GDA never thought in a million years this kind of capital would be sunk into girls Dev. Academy soccer here in Portland. If she makes it, (GD) she will not play in HS. We are just hoping our kid is talented enough for the Thorns GDA. If we don't make it, yes, like you mention we will have to choose from the local club offerings which is the status quo.

These funds subsidize the Academy players. Thus, whether your kid plays rec, club, ODP, ECNL, etc, you are paying for both the boys and girls Academy programs. The DA is still a pay-to-play model - you just have the backing of every youth soccer player in the state.

They also just added subsidized boys 04 and boys 05 single age group travel teams that will be playing in the Washington DA league.
