9. New England Revolution: $1 million
t8. D.C. United: $1.5 million
t8. Montreal Impact: $1.5 million
6. Chicago Fire: $1.75 million
5. Columbus Crew: $2.5 million
t4. FC Dallas: $3 million
t4. Portland Timbers: $3 million

How much school do they miss
How many days of school does the typical Timbers Academy player miss during a year for travel, tournaments, etc..? Just trying to gauge the academic impact.

With that said, some kids do online in high school but most of the kids are in a standard school setting. The DA only has a few (1-2) major showcases per year that could extend into actual class time whereas the standard away league matches for the high schoolers seem to be last flight in and first flight out on the weekends and then back for four training sessions and a week of school.
To answer your question, minimal, if any. Especially if the parents and child are committed, organized, and actively communicating with their school.
It's a great warm up for university and life.
Independence, discipline, balance, communication are all prerequisites to what modern life requires from everyone.

Online high school is encouraged at most DAs and the hope is to skip college and go straight to pros before the player gets too many bad habits and gets too old.

RSL sets the bar in the MLS.
http://grandesports.com/academy/
"Since its inaugural year in 2010, Grande Sports Academy has been setting the gold standard of excellence for youth soccer development in the country. Every Grande Sports Academy graduate has received a college scholarship offer (130) or signed a professional contract (31). Sixty-eight (68) of GSA’s players have been chosen by their home country to compete for their nation’s national team during the past six years (48 for U.S. National Teams and/or 20 for foreign teams)."

The problem with Timbers academy is that its part time. Kids must go to academy training after school, and miss a lot of their high school events due to travel. Many academy players struggle to keep their grades up which can affect where they end up playing in college. I would like to see Timbers academy be a full immersion program where kids train and attend school.
