With the recent failures of the US national women's team, the USSF is calling for better options for player development at the top end. The ECNL will definitely fade away nationally as the OPL did in Oregon, but how long will it last?

I wanted to see the OPL succeed, but it didn't. I'd like to see the ECNL and DA do well but clearly one will become top tier, the other will fade away. With federation backing, clearly the DA is in the strongest position at the moment. I know this will bend some parents out of shape, but that's how it looks to many people who have been around the game for a while.

Fcp has already failed at doing a national league and almost wrecked the club.
fcp cannot rely on their development because they've ended up having to turn to used car sales coaches and parents to recruit to hide the lack of development.
CU doesn't have the coaches or the players for each age group. Tom made it work when he was there taking a lot of teams.
Both Oregon Ecnl teams are paying 2-3x as much and they are either getting killed because of the above or wasting their time traveling to play other dillusioned bad teams who think they are good too.
Everyone knows a Oregon ecnl parent that associated themselves with the league and the league is this and the league is that but they don't tell you that it has very little to do with actual player and team.
Oooooooo a Ecnl team from Florida is amazing!!!! We must be as good because we kinda play, well we don't get to play them but vicariously we are as good too.
Negative goal differentials, poor coaching, overloaded rosters that limit playing time, and lack of choice in schedule with forced travel to play teams or good for them is a waste.
Oregon Ecnl teams wouldn't even win far west regionals and some wouldn't even win their state cup, yet it's all coming to light how brain washed people initially were but now they can't get anyone to tryout for them.

Fact 99% of Oregon teams only needed to go to Washington to get a beating.
This is in the last 15 years. 99%.
It's still this way.
The trajectory of Ecnl in Oregon is diving fast.

ECNL will be just fine; weakened but will be a solid #2. GDA will be #1 but not by a huge margin. NPL becomes a distant #3. Ninety-nine percent of players care more about college so venues that afford them good soccer and training and the possibility of playing in college is what counts. For some the GDA no HS sports rule is a non starter. GDA can't possibly fill all the open college spots every year, leaving plenty of opportunities for players who either can't or don't want DA
