Parents,
Take a good look at your club. These questions should be asked.
1. Does the DOC implement a structured plan?
2. Do they relate it to the coaching staff?
3. Is there an emphasis at your club on development?
4. Are the players improving?
5. Are coached being held accountable?
We have an organization (OYSA) that does not believe in small sided soccer (4v4) and they do not communicate to DOCs about development. We have DOC's that do not care about development. They only care about lining their pockets. This breeds lazy, uneducated coaches which trickles down to the players. It's no wonder Oregon is one of the worst states in the country when it comes to soccer. Take a look when you are over a Delta Park on Sundays. Not a DOC in sight to monitor how the little ones are doing. Parents should stand up and protest the BS they are paying for. It is unacceptable. The clubs and OYSA get away with it because the majority of parents do not understand soccer development.
