in 2015 there was no OYSA rule on when tryouts could be held. HS age tryouts were scheduled for August except for two clubs who held them in May after the Academy tryouts. So to make everything fair, all tryouts are now held the week after Academy tryouts for all ages. They only way OYSA can have any bite is to tie the condition of having tryouts at the same time into a qualifier to be able to play in the Timbers Thorns League. All the DOC's agreed to this after the 2015 mess.

Issue the concept of tryout dates, it is that the Timbers shouldn't be the ones setting them.
They take every opportunity to benefit their own programs. It is a conflict of interest and unnecessary (we gladly send over boys that we think are appropriate for the Timbers Academy).

The question was asked do the MLS Timbers & NWSL Thorns have the authority to dictate tryout dates to the entire OYSA member clubs that play in OYSA sanctioned leagues? Don't really see this directive from Timbers/Thorns as being legal or holding any water as presented on the OYSA website.
Any thoughts?

why? because andrew gregor coaches the usl team, and now the corban u coach is going to suck.. at least they hired a decent (supposedly) director of coaching, who actually does the coaching at the academy. MAYBE things will change, there.

I am not sure how the results of the PDL team, which just trains and plays for a few months, has anything to do with coaching. T2 is more of a feeder program. There are already more than their share of players on various USNTs u14-u19. Why the hate. DS not make the academy?
