Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI like it when someone says what Oregon team has finished in the top 25 and when someone states the facts and proves them wrong they then diminish the accomplishment. For the record the Oregon teams compete in the Mountain Division of the NW Conference and conference games games also include the NorCal teams. In addition, they do compete on the national stage because Showcase event points count towards national qualifying.
Again, for the record, Crossfire UTD for the last 2 years has earned enough national points to qualify for the Champions league playoffs 2 years in a row. Also, last year they advanced to Champions League and finished in the top 20
The top 32 teams from our 70 club membership in each age group (U15-U17) will play for the chance to hoist the trophy. In total, 26 teams per age group will earn automatic berths in the ECNL Champions League. Results in regular season conference games will also determine which teams qualify for wildcard consideration for the ECNL Champions League. An additional 14 teams will qualify for the wildcard pool in the ECNL Champions League based on their conference results. Of these 14 teams in the wildcard pool, the top 6 teams based on points-per-game from all games played will qualify for the ECNL Champions League. The U15-U17 ECNL Champions League Playoffs is a 32-team group-play, round-robin competition, followed by a knockout round. From group play, 8 teams will advance directly to a single game, single-elimination knockout quarterfinal match. Upon completion of the Playoffs, 4 teams, in each age group, will advance to the ECNL National Finals taking place in Germantown, MD on July 8-9.
Here is what they 'qualified for within the ECNL structure
They got hammered in the first round with 32 teams competing and finished bottom of a group of 4. so the finished last place of 32 teams playing under a system that is more complicated than Obama care eligibility.
Why not tell the truth.
They did not advance, they qualified based on a the need to have teams in a so called playoff, they were exposed real quickg, and got bounced.
If you have another version, please share it.

OREGON has NEVER produced consistent teams that compete outside of OREGON.
THIS IS A FACT and even your club coach wouldn't dispute this. (ECNL oregon coaches pretty much will tell you anything to get your money but anyone that won't lie to you will say this)
If you were to look at the history you'd find that even trying to compete against Washington teams, they would always get the butts handed to them. It wasn't even close.
When Northwest champions league was really good, they would put oregon teams against washington teams and oregon teams wouldn't even register a win or sometimes goals at all.
Every now and then you'd have a team that would compete but it was random based on the different clubs. FC portland never really had top teams at all so its a joke to think that they will now. But thusc would have one, eastside another year, and westside etc etc.
Now those two clubs signed on for their families to pay 10lk a year and flying to play teams that aren't very good or a few good teams (you can always find good teams to play) but they are forced to go when many of these teams can't even compete well in state.
Their parents will tell you that they are the best by default or because some great team from California beat them 9-0 that means they are just as good. They will tell you that some team from California had a lot of college recruits(same clubs regardless of the league and even their B teams will have more college recruits then Portland clubs) so that means they are going to get it to.
That reality is that those college recruits currently weren't developed by this joke of a league and many underachieved because of the terrible structure.
- They have to overload rosters to manage costs. You sign on and 1/4th of your team can't even play because they load the rosters to high. NO DEVELOPMENT.
- Terrible coaches think they need to win their mediocre conference which AS YOU READ ALREADY never have the teams to do it but they still are idiots and don't know what they are doing. So the kids that do travel many don't play. Imagine flying 5 hours to play a terrible team and come to find out your team can't do well and your coach thinks winning the game is more important than playing your kid.
- You pay 10k a year and come to find that most of the recruits as they have ALWAYS been from this area are going to local schools with coaches that recruit from everywhere and tell you that you didn't even need to do this in the first place (FACT)
- Your coach can't develop so they are stuck not being able to compete. SO they in turn try to sell this propaganda and send their parents who are ALREADY upset and anxious to either insult their way to the top or try to sell so they get "good" players in.
- They have rosters of 24 but for some reason their coaches bring in guest players to win games and tell their parents to recruit...WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS? Because many find out its BS and leave and coaches want to be able to not have to deal with people asking logical questions.
You can dispute this with your limited understanding of soccer in Oregon but you should know the truth. I would be very critical of the scam that is going around and how much your kids are not getting the development and attention they need because they want to use smoke and mirrors to get you signed up.

How you get selected for the national training camp is from your state ODP coach. The 2016 Region IV pool was from last years ODP players!

Congratulations to last year's picks. It was the biggest year yet for Oregon girls. Many bones came our way. This year no bones. Closer to a typical year when we usually get only 1 or 2 total. That's Oregon soccer. Enjoy it for what it is.

Just to set the record straight local Oregon club teams play in the Mountain Conference of the NW Division and have never even finished in the money in this tiny remote conference featuring WA, UT, OR & ID.
How that dismal performance translates into a top 20/25 finish in a fractured disconnected National league, is simply a guess at best.
To wit our (local clubs) aren't even relevant in the Mountain Conference of the NW Division and have never placed or advanced in the ECNL playoff structure fielding local club 10 teams over the last 2 years.
The only logic for doing this activity with a local club (team) is perhaps increased exposure to college coaches at the (2) showcases they attend which feature 100's and 100's of club teams with far better players than Oregon's local clubs, if a (local) parent is willing to pay for this charade it's speaks more to their complete & utter ignorance and is fueled by the depth of pocket book.
It's pure comedy.

ECNL parents have officially lost their minds... all you have to do is look at the stats to see the two Oregon programs are sub par. You continue to come on here and refer to OYSA as"Rec" even though your own dd never once finished at the top of the bracket there. To clarify.. PYSA is Rec. Arguably OYSA D2 could be Rec as well. Silly paranoid nonsense blaming OYSA.

The 03 player also did ODP this year and was on Thorns Academy. She's still in middle school. None of the other 01 or 02 players on Thorns Academy chose to do ODP. You can not be invited to the ODP national training camp without being a current ODP player!

After actually looking at the standing, it would appear FC Portland was at the top (1st / 2nd) of most of the age divisions. Only reading T/S I would have assumed the ECNL teams locally were getting blown out every game. That is not the case.
