Thorns academy 01 would go 5-0 on either Ecnl team. This isn't hard to see.

As has been said before, no one will ever know. Because the ECNL clubs don't play in Beaverton, or Far West, or Vegas, or OYSA winter league. And the Thorns teams aren't eligible to participate in the events the ECNL clubs participate in. Draw your own conclusions whatever side you are on.

They wouldn't score a goal, probably wouldn't even get a shot, on either Oregon ECNL team. TA 01's might be good in OYSA level play, but they are no match for truly elite teams.

Why don't we just have a game between the Thorns Academy players that are going off to pay college ball and the ECNL players that are doing the same? Wonder who would win that game...

FC and CU put close to 40 girls into college soccer this year.

Thorns got a couple community college and supposedly mime school according to a post here.

The problem is revenue. To have a staff and top coaches costs a lot of money. Then families expect travel to be covered. You are looking at quarter million dollars per year for each team, plus another quarter million for overhead, technical director, facilities.

The programs is very money hungry but there is no revenue stream to support it.

The De Anza Soccer Club supports the ECNL’s mission and programs, as the ECNL continues to be the top competitive and developmental program for youth female soccer players in the United States.

The De Anza Soccer Club has no ownership of or other contractual relationship with the Thorns FC program and the Club’s current ECNL coaches will not be coaching any teams at Thorns FC."

The top NorCal clubs tend to have highly educated parents that want college exposure to give their kids the edge to get into top colleges. Pro women's soccer isn't the goal so GDA doesn't have much draw.

GDA is falling apart. There's very little draw in pro soccer and $6000 per year jobs.

When a top club basically says that your organization is so bad they want nothing to do with you... Goodbye Thorns Academy.

A top club from NorCal can see through all the Thorns rubbish.

National team players are very few and very far in between. We get one in Oregon every 20 years or so. Other than that no reason to go anywhere near us soccer.
