Who is complaining about you paying $8,000 a year for ECNL? If you are dumb enough to pay it , more power to you!

Most of the players on the Thorns Academy aren't good enough to play beyond HS soccer anyways so what is point.

If you are going to take welfare, at least use it for something that is needed and worthwhile. You are trying to use your food stamps at a high end restaurant and saying you shouldn't feel badly because the government collects so much taxes.
What's your beef with Paulson giving back to the community, not everyone can pay $10,000 for ECNL.
      Did your kid make jv2?

How did the Thorns Academy do against the powerhouse team from Utah this weekend?

Unless your daughter is the top one or two player on her Thorn's team, your daughter is not a very good player and you probably should refrain from making statements about JV2.

Guess there are lots of dumb people out there.

Or there is something to be said about the current Thorns program and players if families are willing to pay $8K more to play somewhere else.

Each family has their own reasons why they pick a certain club, ECNL or DA. Your opinion doesn't really matter so give it a rest. Worry about your own kid instead.

Actually the recruiting efforts to secure players at the two local clubs are more intense and organized than a time share condo seminar convention. It's staggering how much effort and sales pitch is needed to get any girls willing to pay for this club experience. The clubs doing this league are not natural magnets for quality players in Oregon and SW Washington since they have little to no record of achievement in actual bona fide championship level competition. It's a tough sell, so it detoriates into to a sales pitch mantra 'you will be seen' and 'go to college'. Something that would of happened regardless of club choice. Or they highlight how a the club did at obscure and meaningless US Club jamborees in days of ole, since they are not relevant in the ECNL competition at any level. It's very twisted and sad.

Over 40 between the 2 clubs last year and still keep getting offers far greater than non ECNL. You see wins and losses but colleges recruit players and no the level of speed of play in ECNL

Last year ECNL got 40 college signings.

Not fair to compare to the Thorns who only got one. The goal is pro players. It's a for profit pro soccer team.

Talk about recruiting and high-pressure sales tactics - that's Thornz Asylum all the way. Timbers are lying about every part of their rec-level program and selling it as the best thing to ever happen to girls soccer. And then, after just 1 weekend, there are already half a dozen girls calling ECNL clubs looking for pine riders roster spots just to get away from the Thornz Asylum cluster.

How many former Thornz Asylum players are now playing pro - anywhere? That would be ZERO.

So ZERO college players. ZERO pro players. And people are spending $5-10K every year for this hot mess?

What you failed to mention is more kids went to college from those clubs (THUSC, LOSC, SSC, FC Portland & WUSC) prior to the formation of CU. FC has dropped as well since they joined this league.

But, that isn't really the point is it. It's a serious cluster F.

Let me fix that for you:

Not fair to compare to the Thorns who are in their inaugural year to a track available prior to their existence. In the next few years we will begin to see how well received they are by their respective share of local player college commitments.

Not true. But using real facts wouldn't support your little story, now would it???
