Getting an A,B,C,d,f,g certification or following the developmental academy protocols from the ussf is like following a lemming off a hill.

US just lost to Costa Rica and a few other countries the size of Florida this year.

Ussf has no clue but they are taking over.

The fact your tying the national team to what is taught in the coaching license shows you have no clue what you are talking about. Maybe as you get up to the A and B license it starts to become relevant but for all the ones below that its more about structuring practices, and how to approach a topic you want to coach, not a guide to what you must coach.

How would you fix it?

Youth National teams should be a residency program. Currently they practice once in a while and the rest of the year the players are spread out across the country training with their club teams. Even in DA the average NT player will be the only one on his squad, maybe there's 2-3. They're practicing with teammates who aren't at the same level, playing competition that also isn't at the same level as what they'll experience internationally. You can still use DA as a development system/identification program. But NT level requires a different approach. At 18/18+ you need something else (because DA ends and players go off to college, experiencing similar issues). Do a better job developing the youth talent then the adult team is stronger

USSF is in the middle of an overhaul. The Dutch have taken over. We have hired 11 Dutch brains to overhaul United States soccer. The changes that you have seen in the last 6 to 9 months are directly related to our new initiatives. You will not see the benefits of these changes for another 10 to 12 years
