    Development Academy Results

The boys academy was founded in 2007. Over the past 10 years, nearly 90% of youth national team boys players come through development academies.

Last night our men's US national team played a World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica and got thumped, 4/0. This is the development academy model in action. Good luck, ladies.

Girls should run in the opposite direction of GDA after what it's done to the boys.

Gulati and Klinsmann need to get lost. They're failing

Because our women have had increased success in the 8 years that ECNL has existed? How did Hamm and Foudy and Akers ever find a challenge without ECNL?

Agreed. Plus, the competition on the women's side is a joke compared the men's. Half of all female soccer players in the entire world play in the US.

The pay to play model just doesn't work unless you have a massive numbers advantage like the women do. Plus the endless pursuit of youth team trophies is killing real development from the bottom up.

Pathetic showing in Costa Rica for sure but not really due to our academy. I blame it (and the Argentina blowout) on JK going with the same tired old horses. Bradley hasn't looked good in a while, Jones is past his prime, Altidore hasn't been strong since his one shining season in Holland, Zusi was just average in his prime and now is old, Omar G hasn't looked all that good for a few years either, maybe that's why LA let him go. We've had Guzan and Howard as keepers for years, do we not have any GK talent under 30?

When Bedoya and Jones had to sit out the Arg semi final game this summer, who did JK go with in the midfield? Did he go with his young and creative options of Pulisic and Nagbe, of course not, he went with old and average, Zusi and Beckerman. And when Woods was out for the same game, he went with Wondo! Jesus Christ, Wondo? Just when you think one player couldn't flub any worse than he did by missing that sitter against Belgium in the WC, Wondo tops himself and sets up Messi for the highlight reels.

We have great young talent, Woods, Green, Pulisic, Zelalem, etc, better players than we have ever had, let's give them a chance. The old boys couldn't get it done when they were in their prime, so I'm not sure why we think they can now.

Why would you say the boys DA program is a disaster?

Yes, but I'm even more sick of JK. I think it could be time for a change.

DA alum Foster Langsdorf was just named PAC 12 co-player of the year.

Boys DA has been around for 10 years so he could easily be an alum.

The bigger question though is, is DA delivering what it's promised? It promised a path to the pros for boys and to develop a stronger men's team. All the griping at Klinsman aside, it's a fact that the players he is getting now come from DA (unless they are developed overseas). And they are stinking it up BIG TIME on the national stage.

The GDA has the same promise - path to the pros and improving the national team. It's hard to understand how they will be successful with either when they are failing so miserably on the boys side. But feel free to have your daughter be the guinea pig.

Have you read the DA program overview? What parts of it need to be changed?
