A national training for the 03/04 group is scheduled in PDX for 11/14. The training center website says the players are identified by their scouting network. Does anyone know how the scouting network works? Is it made up of certain coaches or clubs? Does it include RTC/ODP coaches?

It's primarily UP and FCP coaches that make the selections.

This used to be so, now it is not accurate. This is run by US Soccer and several area College coaches. Kids are refereed to US Training by local coaches primarily within their own club.

Are you saying each club advocates for their own players and then the coaches running the training make the final decisions?

Yes, I understand they are separate groups/programs but I was wondering if the national training center scouting network may include RTC/ODP coaches that would recommend players for the local national trainings since these coaches get to see a wide range of players from different clubs.

If it's like anything else soccer related in this state, expect a large amount of politics to be involved.

The former UP coach comes to some DA games to scout. I don't know of any others. Last time it was at the Timbers facility with the Timbers DA coach. They keep inviting in the ADF kids to recruit them to the Timbers DA next year.

this is correct. all coaches of club teams have the chance to nominate whoever they want. these nominations must be for players who have a chance of playing on the national team (not the state team or the regional team). then USSF scouts watch those nominated and invite players who they agree pass muster.

The forms for every coach or DOC are online and there are timelines for submission. This is pointless before U14/15.

At the younger ages, the local coaches recommend several players and many more than have any kind of chance of youth national team.
