Sure it is. That's why no MLS team has ever won Champions League - because MLS is the best. OK. Whatever buddy.

True soccer fans would prefer to go to a live MLS game than sit on their butts and watch cheering crowds on TV. MLS may not be good, but it's live.

I couldn't figure out what Klingenburg's deal was yesterday . . . honestly haven't seen them play much this year, but didn't see here get in advanced position at all. Seemed like a tactical decision, but was surprised.

I go to watch plenty of live games.

Have developed contempt for MLS product though - don't pay their players ****, invite almost everyone to the playoffs (demeaning value of regular season), don't respect international calendar, and don't pay solidarity payments.

It is a product that is designed to be mediocre; Timbers will still sellout for the next decade because they have not in stadium competition . . . TV however, too many superior soccer choices. Seems MLS' owners are content to accept that, as long as they can get the next buyer in the Ponzi scheme to buy a franchise.

So you fly to Europe on a regular basis?

You don't get it - I can watch my kids' club team, HS team, and occasionally other teams in the club . . . feel a connection to all of them in a way.

Feel limited connection to sterile MLS. Was an unqualified supporter of the Timbers before they tried to monetize every last piece of youth soccer . . . when it comes to TV, I chase quality and that isn't the MLS.

That's not the point. The point is that MLS is the highest level of soccer we have in the USA. If you want to say EPL is higher, fine, it is. But the point is, it's in Europe. Watching live MLS vs. watching on the TV EPL, well, that's your call. But that's what we have in the US.

Quote above was about "true" soccer fans watching local soccer. My point is that there is plenty of local soccer to watch and finding I prefer the kind w/out the Timbers logo on it . . . guess you could say I have lost that loving feeling, at least as far as the Timbers are concerned.

Daughter digs the Thorns, so I go to a couple of games a year. Frankly it is the best women's soccer in the world so it is not hard to watch, even if the microbrews are $9. Secretly though I am cheering for whoever is playing the Thorns - daughter cheers for them and she is happy when they win, so I can't really go wrong.

MLS is not a top 5 league in the world, and I can watch pretty much any of the top 5 leagues on TV regularly . . . after 20 years less likely to waste my time on mediocre product I don't have any connection to.

Woohoo! we won a 4th tier cup! Woohoo!!!

Sorta like Thorns Academy winning Beaverton Cup.

The point is, Gomer, that MLS is the best soccer you can watch live in the US. Sure, it may suck vs. other pro leagues, but it's the best you have in the US. If you like the EPL or other foreign leagues, great, but your only connection, as you say, is through TV. Being a fan in the US of Real Madrid is like living in London and being a fan of the Seahawks. Talk about sterile.
