Would any major academy in the world do a training on Sunday night after weekend (sometimes twice) games?
It is a serious question.
Hell, some of the jackass Westside coaches had their boys' doing endurance training in RTC last year (again with a weekend of games).
I'm glad folks in Vancouver like the value they are getting from it, but RTC is a terrible model as currently constructed.

Where is your RTC located? Close to your home or one hour plus drive?
Most of your group from the same club? Used to playing together?
How many in your RTC group? What is the kid to coach ratio? Your coach will get a good look at your child being from a group of 15 verses a group of 40 from several different clubs that do not mix well forcing passes to their club mate instead of someone they don't know.
How many in your group really have a chance at the 25 kids chosen and accepting the spot for state team and likely to travel all the way for practices?
Now look at PDX North. This is three locations put together for the 2003 group, from several different clubs, meaning you are less likely to make all practices. You have no idea what your competition is. Look how many kids were chosen and what is the coach ratio? Most of the kids that will accept the state team offer will be from the PDX group, because there is a bigger pool to choose from and they will be more likely to make practices.
You need to look at the whole picture, not just one aspect. Life is never fair or equal so learn to deal with it.

ECNL league play
Surf cup super black
Surf cup super white
Surf cup black
Surf cup white
USYSA nationals
Crossfire challenge
Mustang tourney
USYSA regionals
Any other tournament put on by Starfire
State cup
Vegas
Lake Oswego
Mount Hood
Crash at the Border
Far west
Bend cup
Salem cup
Medford cup
Beaverton cup
OYSA league play
Totally fine with CU winning Surf white. Guarantees they'll be back in a higher bracket next year. Which is more than the Beaverton cup champs can say.
