I saw several obvious offside calls missed, and one "false positive" resulting in a goal being called back.

In one of the matches, the poor CR (who I don't blame at all; his job is tough enough even with assistants) was having all sorts of abuse hurled at him by a few obnoxious fans of one team to boot.

Is this an intentional change made by OYSA for silly reasons (saving money)?

Or are there simply a shortage of officials to work the games?
hopefully one day we will catch up to the rest of the planet that kicks our arse at this sport.

Most countries don't call offsides until U13. And even then they let the play finish and bring it back.

U9 and U10 for sure at 7v7 should not have an offsides rule. It opens up the game and creates more scoring opportunities.

I don't really know what other countries do at this age, but have wondered about just forgetting about offsides at the younger ages. If we can't put A/Rs out there, it is almost impossible to get right from an "adult" perspective.

There is enough for kids to figure out at the younger ages and offsides can come later.

GDA hasn't marginalized anything other than itself so far. Clubs are getting lots of feedback from their members already that NOBODY wants the GDA. Just watch how many more clubs pull out of the GDA over the next year.

Eliminating offsides only makes bootball more tempting. Anything we can do to reduce the amount of Timbers Alliance bootball, the better.

OYSA must sanction any league that meets requirements. They aren't the gatekeepers, they are the sanctioning body. Just like they must admit clubs that meet requirements.

If you aren't one of their cronies, they make it as difficult as possible and are known to be more stringent with people who haven't assimilated.

Being admitted for membership in OYSA and being allowed to play in the Timbers league are 2 very different things. Timbers has final say on who plays in their league and who doesn't. Of course, as they are in it only for the huge money, they let everybody in.

Typically, a few parents will get irate and eventually, then the HS kid is so scared, he/she raises the flag each and everytime, if it's even close. Unfortunate but a lot of those HS aged kids just don't have enough "life" experience to deal with the loud/obnoxious parents and they get baited into calling calls that they should not call.

There's always a shortage of good ARs because very few return for another season of abuse by the parents (and a lot of the time coaches). Fix the sideline problem and it will fix the problem of having brand new, timid, ARs

For that reason alone even though my DD doesn't play for an ECNL club I root for their success. If OYSA/ODP/thorns academy/timbers academy is this bad now, how much worse will they be if there is literally no other option to play soccer in Oregon?
                  Wrong again.

AYSO and KidsSports field teams and clubs and both not part of US Club Soccer or OYSA.

No big deal there other associations you can join and thousands do, not really the case that any club is holding out against the OYSA, they are free to join any association they want.

Wrong again. They (OYSA) 'must' not do anything, they have the power not to sanction any league, for any reason, regardless of any so called requirements, there are none of these requirements or checklist to get automatic sanctioning. Otherwise business minded people would of already got a league sanctioned and banked all the coin like the Peregrine group has done. The OYSA has a sovereign state right to be more restrictive/permissive on any policy per USYS constitution and bylaws.

Admitting a club is a different type of fish than sanctioning a league.

Now you know the real skinny.

Yes, the sideline problem is the main reason there's a ref problem.
