Now this is a different year. The "slytherins" are gone, and the 05 timbers are much better, so perhaps observations that might have been reasonable last season are no longer. But it is routinely alleged here that OYSA is full of kids who could play for the academy, but who either were offered spots and declined, or who WEREN'T offered spots for political reasons.

Sadly though oh, that really wasn't saying a whole lot. And as I can tell that I am responding to a Westside parent, I will say that while the slytherins may be gone, ta still is not anything to write home about. I am not sure why you feel so passionately about the TA or how you think it reflects positively on you. I absolutely agree with previous posters who said that an Osa All-Star team would beat TA.

Your recap of WST vs OPFC.
Game was played at West Linn HS, on the same day as a cheerleading competition, which made parking a challenge. (At least it was free). This game is played in the backdrop of the match three weeks ago, in which OPFC thrashed Westside 7-0.
Right away, the team in red served notice that that result would not happen again. The opening kickoff was swung to the right and quickly moved down the field, and Westside caught the OPFC defense napping as a through-ball met the feet of an unmarked JJ, who calmly swatted in the opener from the side of the box, thirty seconds in. OPFC would get that one back about ten minutes later, as they got behind Westside's defense for a one-on-one with the keeper, scoring easily. OPFC looked to be the stronger team for much of the first half, generally controlling the ball and creating some good chances--including one shot that bounced off the inside of the far post before being cleared--and handling Westside's counterattacks. Finally, near the end of the first frame, Westside took back the lead when an HDN cross found the feet of JJ, who calmly tapped it in. 2-1 at the break.
The two teams traded blows throughout the first thirty minutes of the second half, with both getting good opportunities but neither being able to convert. Finally, with about ten minutes left, JJ got the ball on the left side, beat a few defenders, and launched a howitzer into the top corner from outside the area. You know that golazo that Blanco scored against Sporting KC in the 2018 MLS playoffs? It kinda looked like that. Now down two goals and with the clock ticking, OPFC sent everyone forward looking to get back into the game, but were undone when JJ got on the end of a Westside clearance, beat everyone down the field, and beat the keeper with about 3 minutes left. Things got a bit chippy in the last minute when an OPFC player gave a Westside player a good hard off-the-ball shove right in front of the ref, getting booked for his troubles. On the restart, JJ almost added a fifth, but this time his shot was saved. The whistle blew, and it was over, 4-1.
First, kudos to JJ, who had a dominant offensive performance. It's hard for entire teams to score 4 goals against OPFC's defense, having one player do this was impressive as hell. He gives Westside a dimension they haven't had since AB (not the one that plays for OPFC, the other AB) was on the team.
Second, kudos to the Westside defense, who only allowed OPFC a single goal, the fewest they've scored against us since before the Great Rapture. Especially after being mauled three weeks ago, the unit was tight and effective, and very rarely let OPFC's talented forwards get by them.
Third, kudos to coach Steven, who was ridden pretty hard here about three weeks ago. He made some formation and line-up adjustments, and they worked wonders.
And finally, kudos to the entire team, who responded positively to an embarrassing loss with a resounding win against a very good team.
Tomorrow, Westside hosts CFC, and OPFC finally gets to play the F-Bombs in what should be an intriguing clash of styles.
