If your kid is too good for that, don't go but don't claim that other kids won't be having a fun weekend of soccer.
The parent who is sniping about this weekend's "rec" tournaments almost certainly had his/her DS in OYSA ball last year.

There are a few OYSA premier teams who probably can take down one or two of the DA teams, if you ask me. Cuervos and Bend Red are certainly capable. ADF, after a weak showing in Clash, dominated NWCL last weekend. Haven't seen IFC or 4H's top squad play.

Eugene got spanked around in premier, The crows were proven to be PURA SH1TA in state cup and ADF lost so many players that they are a joke now too. Should I continue? Will new faces fill in yes but not nearly at the same levels.

And bye the way how is da going to burn a kid out? And why would my son hate me for supporting his decision and desire to play for a specific coach and team? He will be playing other sports during the year as well and I have already had that conversation with his coach so move along and enjoy your rec level soccer experience (for the most part) at cook park and or in the SW Washington area depending on which gen you are lucky enough to play in..
To be fair, most of the kids playing DA should not be playing DA. OYSA would be a better landing spot for 70% of those kids, and the level of competition - in both DA and OYSA - would be improved as a result.

I agree and disagree with this. Granted, most kids should not be playing DA. Of the seven teams there probably should be three or four max, and no TA for this age group. They could have played one another with occasional games or DA only tournaments against WA DA teams. By u15 these four teams could have been great feeders for TA if that's the path some wanted to take. On the flip side, a lot of kids are enjoying DA because it's less games on a weekend and almost no travel (except two games in Salem) whereas in OYSA they have to drive to Medford or Eugene or Bend which parents hate as well. It will be interesting to see what "little DA" clubs get to keep the DA program at u15 and what that league will look like.

True, it's like having the OPL back for the boys little TA teams and eliminates much travel to Bend, Eugene, Medford, etc.

I can see where you are going with this and what you are attempting to say. However, I always find it frightening when somebody makes a general assessment of a group and then attempts to persuade others to feel that way. For example, you could have (And should have said "in my opinion most of the kids playing DA should not be playing DA." However, you did not. In my opinion, I feel there are too many DA Clubs. I feel, that BSC and Westside should not BOTH have DA. I am okay with FC and Crossed for geographical reasons. Same with CFC, Eastside and Washington.

The top Bend players play for the Vantucky DA at '06, '05 and '04's. They have 8 players from Bend in total

The Bend players do all the travel though, don't they? Or do they schedule some trainings & games in Bend?

Hahaha- you proved my point and it seems that you may be the bitter one with the painful call. I Don't need to go watch your son stumble around and play kick and chases to see a kid with a smile on his face. I can guarantee my son enjoys himself just as much if not more than your darling snowflake. And just so you know, my expectations are that he enjoys what he does and to give his best effort for himself and his teammates.

What happened to Cuervos in state cup? They were exposed and did not win a game. You are probably one of the idiots that think Alabama football could beat the worst NFL team...it's a whole different level.

If you want to really analyze who should and should not have DA answer this: what clubs have been serving the needs of elite male players and providing these players with academy advancement and college placement opportunities for the past ten years? When DA goes away at u16 and your son is not on Timbers Academy, what club will still be preparing the high school age players to possibly play at a collegiate level someday? Exposing them to all the right tournaments where they already have longstanding relationships with college coaches and recruiters? Most of these boys don't get looks just playing high school soccer and they certainly will not be continuing to develop at a high level playing fall high school soccer. While some may want to prop up clubs because they are centrally located and have the DA program, ask yourselves if those same coaches have never once in the history of the club produced a state cup winning boys team? Or any teams playing at a quality enough level to compete at any national tournaments or college showcases?

Westside. Eastside. Washington. FC Portland. Possibly PCU.

Ignoring the specifics of the 05 age group (I say that because we are in the 05 thread), and focusing on the Portland metro area, these are probably the best clubs at historically producing boys' talent.

ADF has been impressive in the short time it's existed.

The Cuervos team I've seen this summer looks pretty dang good. Did not see the Cuervos team that was in Spring League or State Cup play.

Whether they will stick together for Fall or Spring league is an interesting question.

And I'll disagree that the DA is a "whole 'nother level" from OYSA premier. I think it will be better, but not NFL-vs-NCAA better. Wouldn't surprise me if there aren't OYSA teams who can knock off DA teams, even if the DA team would be the favorite in most such matches.

How is DA a whole other level with the same players and same coaches that were in premier? This just shows how effective slideshow presentations and pyramid images are in brainwashing parents, effing LOL!

The teams are definitely not better. The training program is supposedly more intensive. A ten month program, more practice time and less game time. The pool is watered down. Too many "little DAs".

"Your child will be elite in this program" is one of the greatest sales pitches ever devised.
