There is a family from skamania county that has three kids that play at different clubs one of which trains in hillsboro? Really? For reals? I know of families in the past driving to play for Seattle teams but you don't see that anymore.

That's gotta be a 90 minute drive each way to and from Hillsboro. Let's just say that we all know that if the parents keep that up that their DD will be quitting soccer by 16 years old.

I'd have to agree. If your daughter is on the GPS 03 girls team, your not going to get a better bang for your buck. MJ needs this team to continue to succeed to bring recognition to the GPS Oregon brand if it is going to grow and succeed. So he will continue to put tons of time and effort into this team. If I had a 13 year old girl, I might send her there. I've seen him at training, he's high energy, intense, and well planned sessions. I'm sure the other 3 teams get plenty of TLC too but the 03 Gs are his baby.

PS- haven't posted for awhile, but maybe the "random question" needs to change since the US Women won nothing at the Olympics.

GPS is a model based on making money and fooling the American parent. It works for many which is why it can be funded. Why not align yourself with Newburg and HSC? They now pay GPS $75 per player and have to wear the Bayern kit. What about the development plan? Who has MJ got working for him? Nobody. Yes, he is a decent coach (Bad temperament) but he cannot do it by himself. This will never work because OR does not have coaches skilled enough to follow any kind of plan. GPS do not have a plan based on Oregon soccer. Parents need to stop falling for this nonsense but the culture will never change. They tell their neighbors that their child is at GPS. They tell them they are affiliated with Bayern Munich. The friends say WOW! That's good enough for the American parent!

MJ has people working for him, but you wouldn't know that because you are talking out your ass. As for your assertion that no OR coaches can follow any kind of plan, well, talking out your ass again. As if you really know all the coaches in Oregon and their capabilities (way to throw everyone under the bus).

When folks ask me who my DD plays for and I tell them GPS, they just shrug, then I do the same, then mostly we talk about other stuff. If they are really curious, I'll tell them the whole story, but most dont care and, honestly, neither do I.

Your final bit about the American parent...what country are you from that does such a great job developing young girl soccer players?

Why wouldn't I send my 13 y.o. to to be on his team. He has done nothing more than make her a better soccer player and a better teammate.

Foreign coaches LOVE American soccer parents that never played. A nice accent, talk about being a pro except for that injury, talk about all the players they know and developed, some cool drills they found on YouTube....hook, line and sinker.

Yes, I and others would have him coach our daughters. I believe he is better than "a decent coach" and the only evidence of bad temperament has been in defense of the players. I would want my daughter's coach to aggressively protect her well-being. It is quite the opposite of your statement with parents and especially players. We chose the team before we knew anything about what uniform they would wear. I believe they do have a plan, I have seen evidence of it, and think that it will come to fruition. Honestly, that is secondary in my hierarchy of importance to the growth and enjoyment of my daughter. I have heard people say WOW!, but only in the context of WOW!, you have a skilled team or WOW! I enjoy watching your girls play. Also, WOW! it looks like they love the game. I don't believe I have ever referenced Bayern.

Finally, I have a feeling that you have your own motives related either to money or pride (I can't think of any other reason for your post, though it is ironic that they are the 2 issues you bring up) so please don't question mine.

So...... don't think the style you all play is extremely impressive.

Maybe when you play much lesser opponents you marvel at your style. The rest of the upper level teams feel bad for the overwhelmed opponent and like the fact our goalies get a chance to score playing forward.

Thank you for your reply. I must say that it is very much in line with what I anticipated. I wish you had addressed the points I countered, but instead you have changed the point of attack. I have come to realize that many people like yourself on this website can only use deflection and sarcasm, it is a defense mechanism and your post is an education in both. I will try to complete this post using your methods, perhaps it will draw a direct answer rather than misdirection. I do not know what club you come from because you did not reveal that in your response. It is obviously an upper level club and one with a much better keeper than ours, congratulations on her and your team's success. You are very strange. Good luck with the arm and your keeper is one of the maybe 3 to 4 truly elite players on your roster. Wouldn't be the same for you guys without her. Good luck to your girls on the rest of there year.
