How insecure are the ECNL drones?

Posting and posting all sorts of negative comments on the Thorns, creating dozens of threads. The board members and staff members must be really concerned. They claim to have this great league, yet have to constantly try to validate it. And furthermore, they have this full court press to post negative comments about the Thorns. It must be shear misery over there.

Pretty sure the number of anti-ECNL threads outnumbers the anti-Thorns threads by about a factor of 100...

Awwww, the poor ECNL folks are butt hurt. So they have to lash out. They talk and talk about how great ECNL is, even though it's lousy here in Portland, and wonder why people post the facts that refute their hyperbole. If you accepted what the ECNL folks here say, you'd conclude that ECNL created all of these top soccer players when in reality, it only attracted these top players, who from now one, will go to the top league. And the ECNL drones are so worried that this will be the GDA and leave the ECNL to second tier. At least Portland only has ond GDA team so that there is a chance the local team is decent, unlike the current ECNL folly where both teams suck.

If all the players in Oregon ECNL are so bad, why do you want them on your "elite" Thorns Academy GDA team?

The players from all the Oregon Clubs & SW Washington, including the local clubs of FC Portland and CU are welcome to tryout for the Portland Thorns GDA.

Obviously the coaches will decide which ones are 'elite' to make one of the 3 teams playing in 2017-18.

                Is that really so Bad?

No different than today and none of the top players chose the Thorns Academy. Why would they choose it next year? Same club playing in a league with ECNL club's "B" teams. Jeez, GDA sounds a lot like OYSA, doesn't it? Except the kids in OYSA get to play HS soccer too.

No one said all players were bad. You implied that. Think poster was making general comment about the general quality of the team. Both ECNL teams have a few talented kids and believe it or not so does the Thorns Academy. The real talent is dispersed amoung way to many teams therefore making all teams full of sub par players. You got to have 11 to play. It would be interesting to see how oregon could compete if all the best where in one location.

Today none of the best players in the area play on the same local club team, in any league.

Only one more season to endure of 10 local clubs teams getting smashed week after week vs future GDA club teams. At least the former OPL hangers-on finally caved when the parents said NO MORE!!

This last girls standing lot is much more stubborn and sadistic they take the poundings and say thanks may I please have another!

                      Love it.

Just 90% of the ECNL players suck. I hope your kid is in the top 10%. Probably not.

I don't understand why it bothers you so much that families and clubs have opted out of the Timbers borg.
