"Clubs may not charge a registration fee for tryouts"

    Directly from the rules.

Prohibited from tryout fees? There goes the $400 of income they expected to collect from the three girls coming to tryouts.

Wait until morning when the Timbers figure this out and have to refund everyone their tryout fees.

"Uh, boss, I just read this online. Is it true?"

"Can you google the rules for the girls development academy and print them off so I can read them at lunch?"

I can't blame them, it is all new. But a little due diligence would be nice.

Last year on the boys side one of the better DA players decided he didn't want to sacrifice HS so he quit DA and then was Oregon Player of the year

Well neither of the Oregon ECNL teams could compete against them so maybe a better compilation of players and coaching staff will give them a better shot.

He wasn't relevant in the boys DA by production or performance. He was maybe player number 22 of 24 players on the Portland Timbers DA that season. Making him near the bottom of all DA players across the country. But he was better than a few players. He made the right choice by playing at the HS level or local club scene. Smart move to stay in his lane.

It's only 8-10 hours. Great opportunity to do homework.

The program was probably typed up yesterday morning on an interns chrome book down at a coffee shop so give them a little slack for revisions.

After they realize the $125 try out fee is prohibited by US Soccer DA rules, they might have kids driving with their parents the 16-20 hour round trips to NoCal to "maximize resources".
