Reign Academy will be full price. How could you pay for 8th-12th grade girls to fly around to play mediocre teams while paying your actual pro players less than 10k/year? Doesn't make any sense.

That will be the reality at most women's pro clubs because they make NO MONEY. I know some have said they will cover or at least subsidize GDA programs but once they run the numbers it won't make sense for some. Back east some are in divisions where they can rent a team bus and drive. Once you start talking about more than a few flights for 18 girls per team plus coaches - it's just out of reach

Yet Timbers are now fully subsidizing boys DA teams for u13,u14,u15 etc.
It would be pretty disgusting to fully fund an 11 year olds meaningless travel games and not throw a dime to girls. Can anyone say Women's March against Timbers?

Women's sports aren't money makers. The Timbers first team players also make much more than the 7000$/yr that many of the Thorns make. Maybe raise the price of Thorns tickets to the same as Timbers tickets and they could pay the women more. Oh, won't work because no one would pay that much to watch the women play. Sad but true.

They aren't getting any federal funding so Title IX doesn't apply. And it's also just business. Male soccer players have value on the open market, female soccer players don't. If US Soccer wasn't paying the NWSL salaries of the USWNT players, the NWSL wouldn't exist.

Think again, how much money are they paying/not having to pay Farfan? How much did the Sounders get when they sold Yedlin? It just takes one and it pays for the youth academy for a long time. No such money on the girls side.

This is where your logic is gender biased. Why should money from selling Yedlin only be put back into a male development model?
That's like saying the top sales reps at a firm are currently men, the women aren't making as much, therefore the profits from their sales should only be invested in training more men and no monies should be invested in women. It's time to start investing in our girls.

Look to a mega popular sport like basketball. The NBA makes way more than the WNBA. If a woman wants to make money playing a sport, switch to golf or tennis. No one but parents Watch women's soccer.

The ECNL teams already subside this. Crossfires top two teams will be free. Seattle Academy is full price. Hearing 14K as they are going to do 3 tourneys in the summer on top of their full schedule.
