Girls DA = $10,000/yr & NO high school sports???

I'm a GDA skeptic but I can't imagine the GDA league schedule will be "voluntary". Thus, other GDA teams will be traveling to PDX. It will be close to 50% home / 50% away for league travel and all will travel to their tournament events.
$20k is a ridiculous number that you simply pulled from you rear-end.

Teams can fly into Seattle and play 3 games in a weekend if they want. Fly into Portland and play 1 mediocre team. Which would you choose. Likely it'll end up that Thorns will have to play all their "home" games in Seattle.

There are 4 girls currently playing for CU and at least 2 (maybe more) from FC that have been called to national women's age group training camps (total of around 24 players nationally) in the last two years. NOT training centers. There have been a few from each club that have been invited to the ECNL National camp at Nike too, not the same, but only 90 girls nationally over 3 age groups with quite a few current national players being among them. I know of at least three of those girls played high school, not sure about the rest. I hate ignorance. No one is talking about regional training centers, allthough the Women's US training center in Chula Vista, CA is in the SoCal region and US Soccer sometimes hosts the national camp at Nike which is also in a region, but they are truly national camps! I am not saying these girls made rosters and played overseas but several have been called back for multiple camps, you are kind of an asswipe to minimize their acommplishments, just sayin...

FC and CU will continue to be the best clubs for girls in Oregon.

Well, as no real DA club would actually travel to Portland to play the OYSA-level Thorns Academy, the Thorns will have to travel for EVERY game. A few will be easy 3 hour drives to Seattle, but there will be a lot of flights to California and Colorado for those other games. I could easily see $20K+ just for travel...

Travel costs will be close to $10,000 than $20,000 per year. Get your facts straight.

Some unhappy parents sure, but I'm with coach on this. You need a low pressure situation to learn how to play together. It was a great move.

It was a little embarrassing playing in the Beaverton cup but at least there was a win. The older thorns is not very good at all. They will struggle in OYSA again.

In reading the application it appears that the GDA Club has the ultimate decision regarding HS Soccer participation until 2021 when it's completely prohibited. I wonder what the Thorn's position is?

At least they got a medal. What more do you want? Go to a tough tournament and lose and everyone would be sad. This was smart.

My hope is got any girl currently playing high school will be able to finish. 2004s would start high school 2021-2022. Seems appropriate to start no high school rule then to give families time to prepare.

Let the girls play HS soccer if they want. Not sure how a girl could practice with the Thorns 4x/wk and also play HS soccer or anything else. But if they let girls play HS soccer & other sports, then it'll be the opposite of what US Soccer wants.

I believe US Soccer has some type of work-around in place if a girl wants to do both HS and GDA.
