There are 4 girls currently playing for CU and at least 2 (maybe more) from FC that have been called to national women's age group training camps (total of around 24 players nationally) in the last two years. NOT training centers. There have been a few from each club that have been invited to the ECNL National camp at Nike too, not the same, but only 90 girls nationally over 3 age groups with quite a few current national players being among them. I know of at least three of those girls played high school, not sure about the rest. I hate ignorance. No one is talking about regional training centers, allthough the Women's US training center in Chula Vista, CA is in the SoCal region and US Soccer sometimes hosts the national camp at Nike which is also in a region, but they are truly national camps! Serious question: What would you suggest? Everyone is ripping on the GDA and ECNL?
Given the current poor state of affairs with the quality of play in the local Timbers / OYSA leagues where should a "top" female player look to play? ECNL? GDA? other?
Seriously the current soccer landscape for a top female soccer player in Oregon is an absolute mess.
There doesn't seem to be a clear-cut answer. Choice seems to be "lessor of two evils" and regardless of the choice $$$$$Comment
