It's pretty simple. Our state is so far behind in the region. Washington is miles ahead of us. I include the Vancouver teams in that. They have less players and have the most sought after players.

And population is the biggest reason, probably, that local youth soccer is behind Seattle and CA. Seattle is nearly twice as big as PDX, and LA and the Bay Area are both far bigger than Seattle.
And given both WA and CA are blue states, politics has little to do with it. If anything , conservative areas prefer American football to soccer, especially for boys.

congrats the G'00 Salmon Creek for winning regionals! Good luck at nationals!
It's great for Oregon to be connected with the talent pool of Washington. We need Vantucky players and teams to bump the low quality we have here in Portland. We should plan on seeing more Washington Teams representing Oregon in the future.

Just look at the ECNL results from this past weekend, they are in last place. Neither of them could win state cup in Oregon let alone a few ECNL games.

She had 5 goals this past weekend. FCPDX wouldn't know as they aren't in that division.
