It's pretty simple. Our state is so far behind in the region. Washington is miles ahead of us. I include the Vancouver teams in that. They have less players and have the most sought after players.

I hate living in Oregon. Soccer sucks.

It's not just the soccer. Our standard of living has dropped because of the strong liberal influence. People are leaving in droves

The state's population is growing, not shrinking. If people are leaving in droves, they are being replaced in even larger droves.

And population is the biggest reason, probably, that local youth soccer is behind Seattle and CA. Seattle is nearly twice as big as PDX, and LA and the Bay Area are both far bigger than Seattle.

And given both WA and CA are blue states, politics has little to do with it. If anything , conservative areas prefer American football to soccer, especially for boys.

Hmm, someone forgot to inform Texas. In any case, I doubt politics have much to do with it unless it is the economy.

congrats the G'00 Salmon Creek for winning regionals! Good luck at nationals!

It's great for Oregon to be connected with the talent pool of Washington. We need Vantucky players and teams to bump the low quality we have here in Portland. We should plan on seeing more Washington Teams representing Oregon in the future.

Is this arguing that Texans prefer soccer to football?!?

Got a point there. Region IV champion and would get absolutely throttled by any of the ECNL teams in the Region.

At U15 in PDX area the ECNL teams are very weak. The '00 age group sucks. Just ask the top player in the area. She's from Beaverton and chooses ECNL in Seattle. That right there says a lot. I think that Vantucky team would beat the two ECNL teams.
Just look at the ECNL results from this past weekend, they are in last place. Neither of them could win state cup in Oregon let alone a few ECNL games.

They've played in the past when FCSC was stronger (2 players have since left for FCP ECNL), and FCP won 4-0 then. No reason to think it would be any different now.

The player you speak of moved because the FC coach wouldn't bow to her parent's every wish. So she went from getting lots of PT at FC to riding the pine at Xfire. Sounds like a great decision!

                                Riding the pine?
She had 5 goals this past weekend. FCPDX wouldn't know as they aren't in that division.
