    Beaverton Cup 4v4 Open Thread

The Beaverton Cup isn't for another months or so, but this weekend gives us the Beaverton Cup 4v4, put on jointly by Westside and PCU. It's kind of like outdoor futsal; with no goalies (instead there's a keep-out area in front of each goal), no offsides, and hockey substitutions.

Anyone (especially anyone not from the host clubs) going to this?

    No. I don't think so.

My son played in it when he was a U11 and U12 player at Westside. It was fun.

Schedules are posted. Mostly PCU and Westside teams with a few others sprinkled in at some age groups.

Have three kiddos in the tournament. Will be doing lots of laundry between Saturday and Sunday.

My son is on an Indy team, only non westside team in his division. Too bad more outside clubs don't play, as it is a really fun format. The DA mandates Futsal in their program as it is so good for development, so you would think these small sided tournaments would have more popularity. At $175 for 4 games, it's pretty reasonable, about $25 per kid. I play at Rose City Futsal and got an email for a youth tourney they are hosting this weekend. It's a 4 game guarantee too, $400 per team.

Futsal might be good for development, but it's NOT because the DA mandates it. If clues were shoes, US Soccer would be barefoot.

we had a kiddo in both of these tourneys over the weekend. both were lots of fun. indy teams rock, what is the age group/gender of your squad? my kids love futsal as well and we play fridays with www.oregonyouthfutsal.org. they host futsal fridays (competitive games with blended rosters of individual registrants) and they will also host your full team for a friendly against some of their kids. just contact them through the site.
