Looks like WST and Thusc are pretty dominant. Although two of the Thusc teams are the same age group.

Haha. Didn't they reach the semis and have good chances to win the the game in OT?

              Which team was that?

So USCS State Cup not USYS State Cup?

Until a couple of years ago, there wasn't much to the USYS State Cup. Most clubs were playing in OPL (USCS). In fact , I think a Westside girls team actually entered OYSA State Cup a few years ago just so they could go to regionals (they were the only team in their age group so a "win" was automatic just for entering!). And a (then) WUSC team did something similar at U13 I believe. But they actually had to play a few teams to get to regionals.

There was a lot of back and forth between the USCS and USYS for years so clubs would play in one or the other, and sometimes in both,so it could be quite confusing.

To say that there wasn't much to the USYS State Cup needs to be taken in the context of the time frame of your experience. US Club Soccer was established as by clubs frustrated by USYS. Westside hosted the first USCS Regionals which brought in clubs such as Mustang from NorCal. USCS gave clubs the option to send teams out to regionals across the country. This was also in response to USYS taking away wildcard opportunities for State Cup finalists and replacing them with Far West Regional League Champions and Wild Cards.

The Oregon Premier League came later after Oregon clubs were quite annoyed with OYSA issues and knew that they could better run a league on their own. These clubs truly tried to negotiate with OYSA before doing what had to be done and register the new league through US Club Soccer.

OPL and the OPL Cups were very successful and had a devastating impact on OYSA. During this time, some clubs allowed their teams to decide which state cups they wanted to enter. Since these are amateur teams they are protected and free to chose, so they did. Some clubs' teams played OPL state cup and some played OYSA state cup.

The OPL reacted to these clubs by claiming that this action would make the OPL look bad, and responded by kicking those clubs' representatives off of the OPL board -a board made up of directors of coaches from different clubs.

Interesting note here....The US Club Soccer Board of Directors West Region happens to be THUSC DOC Tom Atencio. One of the clubs' DOCs kicked out of the OPL was Westside. Personally, I'd call that a bullying move. If things had been left alone, the USCS OPL likely would have been just fine. The OPL died.

                        Thanks for clarifying that.
I should have said more about the timeframe in my post. OYSA used to be it, then it wasn't, now it is again. I should have explained more as anyone with younger players has no context beyond the Timbers/Thorns leagues.
