          At what age do results matter? Tabulating and publishing who wins at young ages is the sort of thinking that prioritizes winning over player development.

              P = Premier-level competitions
              D1 = Division 1 (President's Cup level, generally)
              D2 = Diviison 2 (Founder's Cup level, generally)

              Beside each club listed is an entry for each league the won (or came second in), indicating the level of competition.

                Good question. Some clubs act as though U11 trophies are a matter of life and death, others don't give a rip. Some clubs only care about premier competitions (and don't care about e.g. the Presidents Cup), for a few other clubs, a good showing in the Founders' Cup is the highlight of their year. (Typically the smaller clubs that straddle the boundary between classic and rec).

                And I'm sure someone will soon declare that only ECNL results matter, because the rest of Oregon soccer is all essentially rec. :)

                So far, I've just posted raw results, not worrying about what results should count and be given what weight.

                  I assume you enjoy this, so keep on keeping on. But I don't think everyone is following what your posts above are about.

                    That is for sure.

                    My initial reaction was W T F?

                    Maybe the OP could explain what he/she is trying to accomplish?

                    This does give me a good idea though.
                    Someone needs to build a formula that ranks clubs based on where they end up in league play, then state cup play and finally all together. Not sure how to accomplish that but that would paint a small picture

                        Think OP responded to my ask for help in gathering data. I was thinking about replicating last year's table of state cup results by club (thread has league results so far).

                        Was going to focus on state cup because it is the one time of year were most clubs are oriented towards results, so it is interesting time to benchmark. Should never, ever, be the only metric used to assess a club; however, it is a small opportunity for clubs and teams to celebrate their successes and see how the top of their respective age groups stack up in the state.

                          ECNL is very expensive for the quality.

                            This is already being done: http://lastplanetranking.***********...ontpage_5.html

                            If you take the time to read through their methodology, then you'll see this is the most detailed and fair analysis you can get from game results alone. As with any rankings system it can't factor in which players were on the field, but the sheer volume of data it uses makes it as accurate as it can get without adding individual opinions.

                              On a quality for your dollar basis, Timbers Alliance is way below your average "Little Kickers" rec program. At least ECNL clubs can show a history of putting most of their girls into college soccer programs. Timbers Alliance can't even put their kids in HS programs.
