Softball sounds like a better sport for her. Or singing. Sounds like those soccer days are over for her. The debate team or the chess club sound like they might work for her once she goes into high school When you are born doesn't impact those organizations.

Keep at it, at this rate you will get your princess a spot on the field. Won't be anyone else left with her but hey, you can then finally say she's the best around.

A 4 or 5 month shift in age cutoff isn't the end of the world. All kids will be just fine and are the same players they were before. The few super elite in the state will stay that way and the rest are essentially a giant group of average/above average players who really don't need to be spending 4K-10k a year on soccer but do anyway. This change is a small blip in your child's life. Breathe. It will all be fine. Just keep your teams together and play up if you want. The few elite will still go off on their elite paths and it truly makes no difference for the rest whether you team splits up & goes birth year or stays together & plays up. So, the team won't be as competitive, who cares? These kids aren't headed for the national team anyway. If you care about competitiveness, go birth year! Play the game & have fun. The end soccer result will be the same for all the kids.

Older 8th graders can play club with the young freshman during the winter season. What's the issue? They still get a club season. It's just a few months later. Older seniors can still play club at u19 as RAE is mostly gone by this time. All of this should be a non issue for kids who love the game.

Parents are making this an issue. Your kids can and will make friends with their new teammates if you let them.

8th grade fall league isn't a big deal. 2 months of scrimmages and training that will actually help those kids more than if they played HS.

Senior year kids will have teams at the big clubs. Again, not an issue.

Agree. That's why I say just have teams stay together and play up then. It doesn't matter for the true elite and it won't matter soccer-wise for the good but not true elite whether they play by birth year or by the old school year. There is no point to this change, so do it or don't and just play up.

Our TA club is basically only changing to birth year for 2003 and younger teams. The 2002s & above will basically be allowed to stay the same and just play up. It is all about development. Anything else is for wimps. Suck it up. If your kids likes playing with friends that is an indictment of your parenting skills. Only week people form lasting relationships. Soccer is about mixing it up and performing your very best with people you don't know.

Wrong. 8th graders can't play with HS. And all kids ONLY HAVE FOUR YEARS of eligiblity in HS sports.Your not smarty pants or shoe worthy and shorts are longer in the Winter time. Riiiight? Smack down. Mik drop yo! Yo gabba gabba bing watch time. Yeah!!!!!! Owned it!!!!

Play a division or 2 down then. Who cares. It doesn't matter if your team is winning. The individual players on the team will still develop and the elite super stars will still get to go off to special trainings, teams & camps that go by birth year. US Soccer said the focus should be on the individual, not the team. Also, we only have one truly competitive team in the club. They will do fine in state playing up a year. The only sacrifice is doing well out of state but the players are mostly committed or close to it anyway so no biggie. Plus, that team did ok out of state before but not superstars so no big loss.
