The few super elite in the state will stay that way and the rest are essentially a giant group of average/above average players who really don't need to be spending 4K-10k a year on soccer but do anyway. This change is a small blip in your child's life. Breathe. It will all be fine. Just keep your teams together and play up if you want. The few elite will still go off on their elite paths and it truly makes no difference for the rest whether you team splits up & goes birth year or stays together & plays up. So, the team won't be as competitive, who cares? These kids aren't headed for the national team anyway. If you care about competitiveness, go birth year! Play the game & have fun. The end soccer result will be the same for all the kids.
It's the fall of 8th grade and the senior year for the fall born kids that is a big deal.
It's the 1000's of kids that love the game, mostly cause they can play with their friends that don't have national team dreams, they just want to play soccer, which helps kept them out of trouble, teaches them tons of good life lessons that this is a big deal for.
It's sad that the 1% gets preference over the rest of the soccer world.

Parents are making this an issue. Your kids can and will make friends with their new teammates if you let them.

Senior year kids will have teams at the big clubs. Again, not an issue.

Our TA club is basically only changing to birth year for 2003 and younger teams. The 2002s & above will basically be allowed to stay the same and just play up. Players won't be forced to play up but can keep their spot playing up if they want. Makes sense. Birth year is pointless & should at least have been phased in at ulittles anyway.

There is no point to this change, so do it or don't and just play up.

Regardless, boys have the DA, so anything else doesn't really matter anyway - all glorified Rec.
