Then shouldn't our age groups align with that and be Sept.1-Aug 31st.? We're not going to be in sink with FIFA with birth year now anyway because of deciding to use different age charts due to our school year linked soccer season year.

I would take a summer league any day over that (maybe do games midweek).
So are you suggesting with doing away with the after tryouts, before season, tournaments? If so how do we evaluate the group of players picked up at tryouts as a whole team before the season starts?

All that means is that the national championships are in July. Some states run only Spring leagues, or only fall leagues, and some run leagues all year long.

Agreed . . . not sure run of the mill tournaments are better anywhere else outside of the high-profile ones (Surfs, Mustangs, Crossfire Challenges, etc).

Not sure we abolish them; maybe have a few designated tournament weekends where no league games scheduled. But in general emphasize league to a greater extent, with appropriate game to training ratios.

In terms of evaluating new players: training, jamborees and scrimmages.

Training and games. The usual way.
