Actually, there are two TA girls who are going Pac 12 in the class of 2016. Far from impossible. I know this may shock you ECNL zealots, but it happens. One played on a top team here and they traveled and took on top teams up and down the coast. So similar to ECNL, but far less expensive.

The TA folks were hoping you wouldn't use that as an example because the girl going to Colorado is now playing ECNL. Oops! Also, the point of one of the previous posters is sure every now and then a Power 5 conference will have a non-ECNL player, but if you look at Colorado's commits for 2016-18 all but 2 are ECNL players

Boys' side premier fall - TA won only 50% of premier division (crossfire and Amistad each winning a division).

Girls' side fall - I don't understand what is happening on the TA side, but they can't even win at the younger ages any more. Southside, THUSC, Pacific, & NEU all outperforming TA in the younger; TS is ok although behind those other 4 and on par with FC.

Are you really surprised that the TA clubs are doing so poorly? Must be that Timbers "curriculum" they are all using...

You proved my point because go look at the Colorado roster and see that at least 80-90% commits play ECNL. Also, the amount of travel and ODP that she did was not too differnent than ECNL. What is even more comical is that the TA folks use her as an example because she is now playing ECNL which I know makes the Colorado coaches happy

Also proved my point, last and 2nd to last in Pac12, weaker Pac12 programs. D1 is still a nice accomplishment. How'd she get seem by CU? Not playing in OYSA, I bet ODP or travel to some showcase, maybe some ID camps. Adds up $$$$$$.

OYSA is perfectly fine for the majority of players. It's local and provides adequate competition. For those who want more they can pursue ECNL.

Sure, there are good players on the older TA/non ecnl U17/18 teams but I will say that this will start to drop off once ecnl has been up and running for a couple of years. I still know some good players on U15/16 Copa TS, Thorns Acad, BSC, even NEU but this is just a few per team, not enough to make a good solid team, too many weak spots to round out the full 11.

Not everyone on an ecnl team gets an offer or an offer to a decent program, there just aren't that many super stars in Oregon, ecnl has role players too. So yes. I'm not impressed with a PSU offer. I'd rather have my daughter pick a school for academics and have soccer help get her in the door than go somewhere based on a full ride.

Ok, let's say ecnl is a waste of money and I want to go elsewhere, I'm still waiting for someone to suggest that U15 team that will be traveling outside of Oregon to some of the better regional tourneys, so my daughter can get noticed. Still crickets.

Still crickets. When cornered with having to name a viable alternative to playing ecnl, none of you anti-ecnl posters can give me one. Sure it's easy to blast the cost and make fun of poor results but if your a freshman or soph in today's landscape, there isn't a viable alternative in the Portland metro area if your goal is to try and play at the next level.
