This is a good point. With one year of ECNL, Thorns under our belts, with the GDA possibly coming along and all those folks with the "You can just play H.S. and get a D1 scholarship lets see them all. It's time to put up or shut up.

I can find at least two, however, one dropped back down to her age level this year. So, if I can find them, i bet you could too, if you'd stop demanding someone do the work for you and try it youtself.

Oregon ECNL has been a failure. The few that have received scholarships spent more than their scholarship on soccer... And then some. For the remaining 90% you are down 10's of thousands of dollars. That burns we know.

many top players opt out. But if you wanna pay for it good chance your in.

The kids choose to report it somewhere, because they are excited, there are several well known sites that do this, try searching for them there, I can find two....crickets.....

Reporting is more related to Ego and wanting EVERYONE to know. My guess is the dads did this.

Too bad you don't know everyone's situation. Daughters athletic scholarship is more than 4x what I spent on ECNL. However, did not play ECNL to chase a scholarship, but she played because the competition was far greater than playing teams like Wedtside Copa and the Eugene Timbers, ...

Exposure and scholarship was a huge bonus because the travel expenses for ANY competitive soccer ain't cheap

                YES, agreed!

And there is a huge difference in having pride in your child where they are the star, and then there's being prideful, where the parent is the jerk.

Goodness, these girls have been playing since they were like 4 years old, have worked so hard, followed their dreams to see where it took them and if they get that chance to play D1 soccer in college can't we let them announce it to world. Shouldn't THAT be celebrated - if you are at all involved in youth soccer you know the time, work and sacrifice it takes to reach that level. I am thrilled for any player that accomplishes this, whether she is on my daughter's team or another! Also thrilled for the parents that are getting some $$ help to pay for that education.

Actually college coach asked her to report, at least in our situation. They cannot say anything until the NLI but it shows that the kid is committed to the school they have verballed to. And why would you NOT report when the other future commits to the same college have? If you look, typically it is the D2 or NAIA or even small D1 that do not have any reported commits, those kids probably don't, but all of the larger programs their kids do and it is pretty accurate.

But keep making it about local Oregon soccer and Who are the good parents TA vs ECNL because it is always ALL about that.

Look at ECNL team rosters/individual players and most often players will be listed as committed. That way coaches who might be interested in the player know if they're "taken" or not. Clubs also love to use the info for marketing material. While it's best to keep your kids name out of it all it often isn't that easy

You may be the exception to the rule. congrats. I could also argue that your DD would have gotten that scholarship anyway, if she was really that good. Also, 4x scholarship but at what price? Did you settle for PSU? Statistically, that will result in a lower salary over her lifetime which wipes out that 4x scholarship and then some.

Tip of the hat to those who chose PSU, but it is not PSU

As Am I but that has nothing to do with it. Some girls just do not feel the need to report it and thats just fine too.

I actually have no idea what you are talking about. Keep up the good work. Lots of kids commit and do not report. It has nothing to do with Oregon Soccer?

Actually, I know most kids are pretty excited to report their commitment. ECNL girls do with reckless abandon, and that's ok with the ECNL crowd, but if TA girls do it, it's actually their ego driven dads? Man, some of the ECNL parents are just loonie. Don't worry about it many of you since you won't have that choice. Enjoy the patch. Frame it and be sure to post lots of pictures on Facebook for grammy and grampy while she still is playing (sitting the bench that is).
