At $875 per month I thought it was a good value.

Hope is a good thing. It's the best of things. Hope.

Exactly. CU is charging a lot and making parents fly all over the country all for the same crappy coaching they had before. No other team or league comes close to that.

Obama has made a career out of not fulfilling it.

And "crappy" is still way better than the best that Timbers Alliance can offer.

CU only charges $2k for club dues and only 3 chaperones travel. CU does NOT make parents travel

                Does that include parent travel?

                    For example, Phoenix
                    Airfare - $279 per traveler
                    Lodging 3 nights - $100 per player (4 girls/room)
                    Rental car (2 - 12 passenger vans) - $50/player
Food - $90 (breakfast included in lodging, cater all meals)

This is a very good ballpark of what each event cost (some are a little more and some are a little less depending on lodging and airfare)
                    That's about right.

You are correct. They were U17. I'm thinking of this years team that has U14 players on it.

The ECNL folks don't realize that Portland girls have received D1 offers without spending $7500 or more per year for 5 years. And sadly, many of the current ECNL girls not only won't get D1 offers, but won't get any offer at all. At U14, I don't think this is even considered a possibility. I feel sorry for them when they hit U17 and are still looking around for something and when reality is finally hitting.

I have never known a girl to get a D1 offer by only playing OYSA or OPL exclusively (there may be one rare girl). If you want to be seen you need to travel to Showcase and that does not mean the Tacoma Showcase. Not sure if you realize, but attending an ECNL Showcase is less expensive than Players Showcase or Surf.

Actually ECNL parents due realize that girls in Portlsnd got D1 offers without ECNL over the last 5 years....

Here is what else these intelligen well informed parents also realize....

                            1. The majority of those girls with D1 offers came from FC Portland, Crossfire Oregon (aka OSSA) and THUSC, the clubs that now have ECNL teams.

                            2. That the kids also traveled and paid for that travel....

                            3. THAT THERE WAS NO ECNL IN PORTLAND DURING THAT TIME

No you do not have to play ECNL to play in college, but comparing the current situation in Oregon to the last 5 years is like comparing a kitten to a goose, totally different species!

All those kids you described in the first bullet spent fairly close to $7,500. I know that Sodium had 10 girls that went on to play college and they traveled as much as ECNL teams

That's true, but they didn't fly to California or Utah or Boise to play league games. Plus they did maybe two showcases during their U15 and U16 years and maybe one more, or two, at U17. The costs were a lot cheaper. The costs of ECNL really are a benefit to the marginal player, not the top player in terms of scholarships. Although I do agree playing a more steady diet of top teams is a benefit, but comes at a large cost.
