U14G Semifinals

Semi-Final #1: SSC Ireland vs FC Willamette Possession
Ireland was in control throughout. The first goal was the result of a free kick from appx 30 yds out. The second and third goals (one before the half, one after) were the result of keeper errors (looking up too soon before securing the ball). Too bad, for the FCW keeper. She is very good, but the ever-charging Southside offense undoubtedly made her rush her play. The final goal was on a great cross between SSC forwards; the latter headed it past the keeper. Possession made a game effort to mount some attacks in the second half, but the Ireland defense and goalkeeper snuffed them out. An excellent overall performance by the Irish gals!
FINAL SCORE: SSC Ireland 4, FCW Possession 0

Semi-Final #2: Oregon Rush Nike vs FC Portland Marine
This game really surprised me. I knew Marine has played Rush very tough over the last two years, so I expected a real battle. However, Rush never seemed to get their offense on track. FC scored early and held the 1-0 lead to halftime. The second half was much of the same with Marine scoring again to make it 2-0. Rush mounted a furious attack in the final ten minutes resulting in a goal to get within one, but they were not able to get the equalizer before time ran out.
FINAL SCORE: FC Portland Marine 2, OR Rush Nike 1

The stage is now set for next Saturday's U14G State Cup Final between SSC Ireland & FCP Marine. Any predictions?...

PS: Nice to finally meet you, Small Town. Sorry, the outcome wasn't better for Rush. I know Kat and her teammates were really hoping for a match with Cora & her Rush Nike team. They are an OUTSTANDING TEAM and they should be very proud of their accomplishments this season.

Unfortunately, I was not able to go. My girlfriend had other ideas today, sigh. I did hear a few things about the OR Rush / FC Portland game. If I heard correctly, Marine scored their first goal, but 2 girls were offsides. Unfortunately, the AR was not in position to call it. I heard Marine also kicked a PK over the goal. The only other thing I heard was that Marine won 2-1. Would love more details if anybody has em!!!

I didn't hear anything about the Southside / FC Willamette game other than Southside 4-0. Even that was more than I expected. Way to go Ireland. I kinda expected 2-0, but 4-0 is something else. Marine is gonna have to bring their A+++ game next weekend.

I'm sad we are not in it, But most all pray for our goalie she is in the Hospital with a virus or something in her brain. So please pray for her and the family.

Prayers for Alli

The entire SSC Ireland family has Alli in their prayers, and wish her a speedy & complete recovery. She is a lovely young lady and a fine player. Naturally, we'll all have her in our thoughts during tomorrow's game & beyond. Take care, Alli, and personal best wishes from Kat.

Haven't had as much time online lately as I'd like so just getting around to this. Congratulations to Southside Ireland for winning the Girls U14 State Cup. I know you will represent Oregon well in Regionals.

Congratulations also to FC Portland Marine. I know the girls are disappointed they didn't pull out the win, but they have no reason to hang their heads. They battled hard and put up a good fight. Way to go girls!!!
