The bottom line is this. Jesuit, OES, Catlin, etc are all great schools. Most every kid comes out with a quality education. I personally believe there are things in a public school that you cannot get at those schools that has a closer resemblance to real life. That said, some public schools are just not that good. But when you start talking about the top 8-10 public schools, they are just as good if not better than private... The obvious ones that come to mind are Lake O, Lakeridge, West Linn, Camas, Lincoln, but there are more.

Those schools do well for the same reason the private schools do well. They realize the importance of a good education, support and encourage their kids and have the money to back it up. Not a secret.

You're not a very good representative of Jesuit.

When home buying, everyone with kids looks for areas with good schools. Of course. And they can cost more, but not necessarily. But then when you sell, you have that added attractiveness about your home, so it brings more money and/or sells faster. It's almost like you are saying that living in one of the nice areas with good schools is the same as living in a bad area with poor schools and but then sending your kid to Jesuit. Who would ever choose the latter? If you are living in an area with bad schools, it's probably because that's all you can afford and you don't have the money to send your kid to Jesuit. Jesuit parents live in the same areas as those that have good schools. They just choose to pay an extra $17,500 a year to send their kid across town and are paying the extra money you claim it costs to live in the areas with the good schools. Double whammy.

What ???
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostActually, last year, one went to Oregon (Clark Honors college), one went to State, none went to PSU. I'm to lazy to look up catlin's info as well.
It's just reflective of the lack of academic level of Jesuit and the over emphasis on sports. You would think the girls soccer team would win the state championship every year, considering it has such a 'high level' of athletics. If the level of academics isn't better then public school and they don't win, why pay 16k for your dd to end up at State? That's my point.

If you are paying a premium for H.S., you should expect better results was the point.

Also, it doesn't say what the CoC violation was. For all we know it was something stupid.
