Way to come in the middle of the conversation. Read back away and you will see that this poster is supporting going to other conferences, but Oregon kids tend to not too and many I know of have come back after one year because it is too hard. You seem a little emotional about the topic however so must of hit a nerve?

What the heck would be wrong with that anyways. Just cause you might prefer to drop and dash doesn't mean that someone who would watch is doing it all wrong.

Thanks. I love it when posters come in the middle of a conversation and make assumptions. And for the record I support all girls getting the offers they feel best fit them. And yes, it would be nice to see players from Oregon in all of the Power 5 conferences. I doubt it will happen however.

I totally agree with you on all counts. Our daughter really wanted PAC12, but since that was so limiting she was open to the other 4 Power conferences. She received serious interest and even an offer from another power conference school, but once the PAC12 became a serious option, it was game over for her. Growing up on the west coast and growing up with PAC12 sports made it more appealing then taking the time to really investigate if her college fit was actually somewhere else.

Unless it's the Ducks. No one likes them.

There are many teenage girls who would love to play for the Ducks and don't have the opportunity, so I would be careful.

My dd didn't look to any other conference. She got multiple PAC 12 offers so didn't really try anywhere else. Oregon wasn't one of them and I think we were disappointed somewhat. But that was probably our fault. Didn't show them enough interest I think. She would have not chosen them however since she got her first choice.

One of the prices we pay for living on a coast is long travel times which means cost. For both us to travel to the Mid West or East Coast and for schools there to travel out west. From that perspective, living in the Mid West is an advantage. Even with ECNL, I really doubt that we have more than one or two girls every few years who go to an ACC or SEC or even Big Ten school. Our girls who can get offers from Pac 12 schools could also get offers to those schools, I just don't think its going to happen much. I'm a little surpised that more girls haven't gone to Big XII schools. I'm not expecting two or three every year, but I would think one every two or three years would go there. I don't recall seeing anyone in the past four years going there.
Living in the Midwest so that my DD MIGHT be able to play in another conf besides the Pac12 is an advantage? I think your life priorities are a bit messed up! Thanks, I'll stay on the west coast even if that means my dd never gets to play soccer above kick and chase.

Huh, that's not at all what I said. I said IF a person lives in the midwest, they would have better visibility to the other Power 5 schools. You do realize that millions of people live in the midwest? And there are thousands of soccer players there. So a girl living in say St. Louis or Kansas City or even in Chicago can get seen by the Big 10, Big 12, ACC and SEC without much trouble. And going to their ID camps is much easier and cheaper. No one said there aren't advantages in living in Oregon (the politics not being one of them) but proximity to the rest of the country isn't one of them.
