Tom just moved on to the 01 team. He took a look at that 00 team and figured even he couldn't do anything with it. I certainly wouldn't want to be forking out that kind of money for a team that barley beat FC PDX OPL team.

I think they beat FC'S 00 ECNL team last time they played as well.

Maybe the problem is simply that the players have reached their potential and there is no more upside to be had?

Well, it sort of is. There are only so many really good players in any given age group. Oregon is small enough that the number is not enough to staff even 2 teams per age group. As it is they are spread all over the place. If it were as simple as coaches then well everyone would be great and then you would be back to square one.

So it's true, he isn't a developer, he's a recruiter. The great Tom. He's no different from any other coach in Oregon.

Disagree, but I do know he is well connected in the soccer world and has already connected 8-98s to D1 scholarships and I am guessing a couple more before HS

I disagree. I think he develops and as a previous poster mentioned.... they likely are developed and as far as they can go.

In the past Tom always ended up with most of the strong players from a given age group to create one team that could perform very well. After ECNL he now has some competition for the better players.

My kids never played for Tom but one was courted in a huge way.

"Rosters" are published - really just lists of offers - many didn't accept...

Very few returnees from last year's '97 team - 10 total...

No U17/U16 ECNL players moved TO Thorns Academy this year...

'99 roster includes 01's and 02's - had to take every girl that tried out...

Tina has so little faith in the program that she didn't move even one of her Nemesis players to it...

And the best part - it's $5K to play in OYSA!!!
