My son has been attending the WST academy practices and he has really enjoyed them. He will be playing U10 this year and we have been trying to decide which club would be best for our son so we talked to a coach after practice. We have narrowed it down to FC Portland and WST. The coach told me that they are going to be the official academy for the Timbers. I went to their website and don't see anything about them being the official academy. They are part of the Timbers alliance but he said they were more than that. Was this coach exaggerating or is WST the official academy for the Timbers?

Bend, Salem, Eugene & Medford Timbers all have nowhere else to go really. EST & WaT will lose a few younger boys to new younger DA teams but the rest of the club still makes $$ & has a big boys league to play in OYSA.Comment

You're right. Clubs don't pay for the patch. The kids do. The MLS patch and Timbers uniforms are licensed. Sports teams make money when people buy MLS patches and licensed uniforms. You bet your @ss the Timbers are profiting from the TA. They also make money through OYSA since they administer it.Comment
