The real hope is that the academy folds so that the ECNL teams have a chance at upgrading their talent. Worst thing that can happen for a bunch of the ECNL players who would then be displaced.

Timbers academy (boys) charges a player $500. That is it. Until the OR ECNL teams do that, they are not an academy. Just a club playing in a regional/national league. Sorry, but truth hurts sometimes.

Last I looked Thorns Academy isn't $500. Why not? Don't the Timbers care about the girls?But then once the Academy folds here shortly, it won't cost anyone anything, will it?
And ECNL isn't meant to be a "free academy" per your definition. It's simply the highest quality girls soccer league in the nation and two Oregon clubs are members.
