Exactly correct. Real long ball play is when a pass is made to a forward or attacking mid and then another pass or one-on-one is done to get a shot. It is not boot the SOB and see if a forward can run onto it. US Soccer is not very impressed with the infrastructure that is producing the current crop and upcoming crops of players (ECNL) and has introduced a directive to have Academies that are under the US Soccer umbrella/control for the Girls. I guess they don't believe in the coaching and the ECNL competitive model is working. They want to get involved, just like on the boys side of things where they have control the US Dev. Academy structure, coaching and curriculum. Instead of working with the ECNL they just want to push them to the side and do it their way. Good to be the queen.Comment

US Soccer has introduced no such "directive". They are merely opining that something must be wrong as the USWNT is rapidly falling behind. They really have no clue as to why. Any Girls Academy league of the future will simply be ECNL with a different name. Those are the elite clubs with the elite players.
