Top clubs forcing kids to join earlier rather than later

Crossfire Premier will soon be requiring that players play for their club for 3 years BEFORE being eligible to join an ECNL or USSDA team. That's how you suck them in at U11 instead of U14.

That is funny. I wonder how that works when a really talented player knocks on the door? Can you spell DISCOVERY? Discovery play can be considerably cheaper and that will be the club's only loophole for gaining a quality addition. After all, NO quality addition is going to sit around playing on a really crappy team in Oregon hoping to someday be considered for ECNL. I bet it will make all the average player's parents jump though!!!!!!!!

Not sure what to think about this.

Is this Crossfire policy only or ECNL?

I dont like when clubs tell me what I have to do with my dd if I think they may have a chance to play at that level.

And you think that tryout numbers were low last year. If they impliment this, they will be lucky to field teams.

Some exceptions may be made including but not limited to, those who travel from far away and for people who move into the Seattle area from out of state. All players must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA or they will be placed on academic probation. Only the Director of Coaching can review any exceptions to these rules.

This is probably the answer to the what does the club do when a quality addition knocks on the door. Note the limitation to 1 Discovery player now and they must live at least 50 miles away.

Crossfire WA has trouble getting players? Don't think so.

Lets see...take the Crossfire U14 Girls team this year. They regulated like 8 girls to the B team after a handful of Seattle United and EFC girls tried out for the ECNL team and made it. Now a majority of these girls were with the Crossfire team from U9 and all of a sudden they get cut and sent down. How many parents do you think were pissed after supporting this program and the team for all these years just to lose their spot to little Susie who may only be just as good as the girl sent down? I am sure these parents and the parents for the upcoming teams had something to say.

....at a young age we all think our kids will be the next superstar. This should bring many more kids to Crossfire sooner rather than later. Can you say Cha Ching?

Now ask yourself, "what is my club doing?"

Tryout numbers are huge at Xfire Premier (WA).

Exactly, someone posted this on another thread about Crossfire Premier (WA). It is the past two years of their U18 teams. There are many years listed and all are similar. They have no problem fielding a team even at the older ages.

When I look at the Crossfire Premier's of the world I get why they may need a higher league in which to play. Look at the U18 ECNL teams they have fielded the last couple of years. It is D1 central. It is hard to field U18 teams.
