    Spring DA Questions

Some questions about how clubs are running their DA programs, mostly directing the question to the coaches running those teams or managers/parents who know. . . . Think one of our roles as adults' in my opinion is avoiding blowouts either way, so knowing relative strength of other teams matters and at these young ages really have no idea what shows up.

    FC Portland

    Girls.

Westside, multiple ages. Are these generally the gold or silver teams playing at FC?

Pacific lists 2 teams at u10 gold, is that an A and B team, if so which is the A team?

Crossfire lists 2 teams at u9 gold; same question (A and B and if so which is which)?

Sherwood lists 1 team at u9 gold and has 1 team at OYSA; which is the gold team?

LO lists 2 teams at u9 bronze; same question.

    Boys.

U10 gold and u9 gold. FC has 2 boys in gold for each age division; A and B or equal teams?

U10 bronze. BSC and Westside have multiple teams at this level; A and B or equal teams?

u9 Silver. LO and Crossfire each have 2 teams at this level; A and B or equal teams?

u9 Bronze. LO, SESC, WUSC (although it looks like one is u8 and one is u9), BSC all have multiple teams at this age/level; roughly equal or grouped by ability?

    OYSA (now linked)

Running gold and sliver at each age?

Where clubs have multiple teams in the same level/age, are they running gold silver?

I cannot find list of teams online.

For Pacific FC girls, the "C" teams is playing in the OYSA league as "Freedom". The "A" team is "Liberty" and the "B" team is "Reign", both of which are playing in the FC Portland league.

For BSC there are 4 different locations; Portland, Newberg, Valley (Salem), and Hood River. I believe all the DA teams are playing with the FC PDX and Southside junior leagues.

At the DA level the teams are not combined, so each region would have their own A and B squads, so you can end up with multiple teams in the same division.

Traditionally Black was the A team and Gold was the B team. Now they are all named after Nike soccer products like Mercurial, Superfly, Vapor, etc. And I don't what is A or B at the DA level.

At THUSC the A teams are black and the B teams are green. There is also a lot of movement of players between teams. I know that the teams in the Girls U10 FC Portland league are all pretty strong and fairly even, (Yes Pacific Liberty, you are better than everyone else).

My question would be on the OYSA side of things they have a red division and a black division. Is red the higher division like gold and the black is the lower division, like silver?

Red teams are usually first teams and Black are second, but multiple clubs are looking at going back to their old naming strategies. It is kind of in flux right now.

The TA clubs use Red for A team and Black for B. Except Eugene which is the reverse for some reason. Maybe so it won't always be Red vs Red?

Ok, thanks. What about the Development Leagues? The Boys U9 and 10 have a Red, Green and White league and the U9 and 10 Girls have a Red league and Black league.

So the Red leagues would be the higher level leagues?
