The Thorns Academy has a very strong collection of talent. It would be fun to see them play FCP and thusc elite league teams.

Yeah, it would be fun for the FCP and CU parents to watch that. Pretty sure Thorns will never take the chance though. Way too much to lose for a program that is extremely shaky to begin with.

It may, or may not....the philosophy of the Thorns Academy is waaaay different than ECNL....you are comparing apples to oranges.

ECNL is heavy on competition - girls play for results EVERY game...there is little development through quality training...these girls are taught to compete - most of these girls aren't even ready to compete yet as they don't even know how to play the game yet.

Thorns Academy - very heavy on development...results don't matter. You will see a second Academy Team start up next year.

both will attract players, neither will be going away soon.

Games are games. Teams play to win. Practice is where kids learn to play. To say games don't matter is pure foolishness. Kids want to win as well as their coaches and parents. This is how you ultimately judge a program. Success.

You continue to display complete lack of knowledge of anything soccer, you must be in the admin over at CU since that is what it takes to run that place. If you want a laugh, go to one of Fraser's practices. They are so bad that other CU coaches actually laugh at them. You are the only kool aid drinker who can't see facts for facts, which explains why you are on here posting all of the time. Posting, more like marketing.

The games would be very very competitive, despite what Lenny the ECNL Troll tries to say (since he doesn't know this age group nor has he seen them play). The games would be very close. It's too bad that ECNL couldn't get their act together to get refs this weekend so that the local teams could play. But what do you expect from Tom and Fraser.

It was actually FC Portland's home games and they were responsible for refs.

I would imagine that at some point you will see a scrimmage between the Thorns and various age group ECNL teams. The northern Crossfire counterpart scrimmages local college and even had scrimmages against the Sounders (Crossfire lost :-)) It would be good practice to fill in the long lapses between league games.

That makes sense. However, as is apparent, even though this would be a scrimmage, much would be made about any outcomes. No one would take into account that scrimmages are very different from games, so any outcome is far from concrete.

Looks like WashT Greens forfeited instead of taking the 10+ goal spanking that was coming their way...

You can bet both sides would bring everything they have. There's a lot more than pride at stake. It's a marketing extravaganza.

                          It's really not...
ECNL and thorns are two different animals....
ECNL is about competition and results
                          Thorns is about development.

Both draw the players that want those things.

Two different markets and its your choice. I think it's great to have both of those choices

You're partly right. Thorns is definitely NOT about competition. Good development though whacking those OYSA teams 10-0 every weekend!

Which can't be any worse than getting your arse wooped by most teams. Why say stupid things like this???

You maybe right. I don't see them listed under the schedules for Las Vegas Players Showcase. They were on the accepted teams list, but unless I just am missing it, I don't see them scheduled at all.
