This could be our DD also a few years back. She played one position in Rec until she started club. Then she played every position and almost all of the game but was not "the" player for any one position for a few years. However, overall playing multi positions gave her a great understanding of the game, great vision and both a defensive / attacking mindset. By U14 she was designated a midfielder but one that could fill other roles when needed. She is now in college and playing at the D-1 level and loving the game even more than ever before. I agree with the poster that stated learning the technical and tactical aspects of the game as well as learning composure on the field is very important no matter where the player plays on the field.

What really bothers me is identifying girls as keepers early on. I think that's so clue as to the clubs priorities at a younger age.
